Today we’d like to introduce you to Cliff Gordon.
Hi Cliff, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well, a brief summation of my beginnings can be found on my site, cliffgordonmusic.com/bio. I started on a piano to switch to sax in grade school. Then, got into jazz in middle school and started touring/gigging by the age of 12. Music has guided my path ever since. Though after grad school, I toured a bit in Europe and the Middle East. Upon my return home, I recorded, and released, my first project in 2016, “Stylings of Cliff Gordon”. After my album release and another tour, I began teaching at the college close to where I recorded ‘Stylings’.
Now I still teach, (private instruction included), while working on my projects, collaborations, and live shows.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Covid’s global lockdown was a definite hindrance. I was fortunate enough to be able to work around that, but it set back a lot of plans; as it did with most everybody. Besides the music, working to balance everything else that’s relevant; ranging from time to social media.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I write, arrange, and produce music. I’m a wind instrumentalist specializing in saxophone; though, I sing, too. I’m able to provide my artistic approach to any music or project.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
