Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Fields.
Hi Jay, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a model currently based in the Houston area. Fashion has been an interest of mine since high school. After Instagram came out, I was following multiple accounts that focused on men’s fashion and each day at school I would do my best to follow the examples I saw online. One day, a friend suggested I get into modeling. I had never thought about modeling at all before but it did get me thinking. I curiously got online again and began researching and finding everything I could about how to get into the fashion industry. After five years of research, practice, and building my confidence I am proud to say I am now doing what I love.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the obstacles I faced on my journey was self-acceptance and my confidence. Growing up, I was always fairly shy and reserved and over the years I have worked on being more open and confident in myself. Being a model definitely gets you out of that box and it really forces you to step out and embrace the inner light within you that makes you special and different from others. I am grateful for all of the knowledge I have obtained especially in the past two years because I definitely would not be where I am today without it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a runway and print model. Since I have been modeling, I have done multiple photoshoots, promo events, and fashion shows. I see each event as a privilege and I am fortunate each time I am booked to do another project. Modeling has led me to many great opportunities like this and I have met many great people along the way. One of my proudest experiences so far has been having the chance to with Michael Kors. It’s times like that where I have to stop and think “is this real life”?

I am very honored to have been selected as an interviewee and it is my hope that my story will inspire someone else to go out and follow their dream. Thank you Voyage Houston.
