Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Ortiz.
Hi Rose, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Started photography during my freshmen year at Klein Forest HS in 2002. Photography class introduced me to a Canon AE-1 35 mm film. Graduated in May of 2006. Still inspired by photography, I started a part-time job at Star Shots in Willowbrook Mall. We used a digital Canon camera. Printed from a big digital printer machine and changed the film in a dark room.
Photography became a Hobby around 2008. My uncle gifted me a Canon and a computer. I would photograph casually. About a year later, someone broke into my apartment and stole my equipment. As expensive as it is, I never bought myself another camera. I was a single mom of two, with a full-time job, and going to school at night was plenty on my plate at that time. I had the help of my older sister to pursue a career in Healthcare.
In 2010, I met my now husband. Around 2019, we discussed my passion for photography and he decided to invest and buy me my Canon Rebel T7 camera along with some equipment and a beautiful laptop to process my edits. I joined Instagram in 2020, @eyeoftherosephotography, I now have a little over 1k followers on this platform. I am a photographer and do services in Houston TX and surrounding areas. I offer competitive prices. Sessions are in studios or Outdoors. Photography is my passion, though, I pursue it on the weekends I enjoy it very much.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So far it has been a smooth road. I believe this only because I do photography on the weekends. Working Monday-Friday in Healthcare can keep me pretty busy. But the enjoyment on weekends when I get to meet people and take their photos is a freedom and happiness feeling for me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Family portraits, single portraits, and boudoirs. I photograph in the studio and outdoors. I travel to my customers. I am most proud of my passion and ability to help people. Some clients would love photos of their families but just don’t have the means. I work with everyone in the financial aspect. I have competitive pricing, or on occasion work by tips. I just want to make memories for everyone and know that I had a special little part in that.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I have recently been introducing myself to the Chicano Lowrider scene. I would just like to shout out to them for the love and support, and the welcome they have given me and my business. To you all, I thank you.
