Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After six years in the segmented copy and design spaces as both a journalist and then a corporate art director, I knew I wanted to create one seamless experience for business owners to tell their stories. Messaging and aesthetics had remained segmented for far too long, and I knew it was holding business owners back from being able to tell their stories in innovative ways.
In 2016, I started Liberty Type, a full-service creative agency that helps business owners get on-brand and stay on-brand through a variety of mediums. Our clients get the opportunity to work with one team on everything from brand strategy and positioning, brand identity design, copywriting, and brand messaging, website design and development, and content marketing.
Creating one seamless, organized process isn’t just what we do; it’s who we are – and it’s allowed me to build this agency while raising two babies at home.
Today, we are a team of 6+ and have helped more than 250 business owners over the last 7 years.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our agency has grown a lot over the last seven years, and that has allowed me to grow as a business owner and woman as well! I’ve gone from a solopreneur with a side hustle while I managed my career as a journalist to an agency founder with a team of six. The ride has been absolutely amazing, and I’m always surprised at how much we continue to grow and explore what is possible.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Liberty Type?
We are a full-service, boutique design agency based in Knoxville, Tennessee. We work with service providers in luxury markets to help them build their brand foundations, assert their authority online, and stand out from the competition. Our clients have usually been in business for 5+ years, have built an amazing business so far, and are now looking to establish their online presence as the true authority they are. We provide a white-glove, one-stop solution for these business owners and their teams by providing brand strategy and positioning, brand identity design, print, and digital materials, website copy and brand messaging, website design and development, and content creation for their social media and blogs.
We operate on strict timelines and processes (so our clients can actually plan their launches), and they’ve loved the white-glove experience of working with an expert team and having their brand built with expert precision.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
My background is in breaking news journalism! I was a journalist for 6+ years in Philadelphia. I’ve even been featured by the BBC! I built a career in the Philly community making people pay attention to the things around them, and it has perfectly suited this agency life I’ve built now helping business owners get attention online.
