Today we’d like to introduce you to Bresha Haskins, M.Ed., LPC.
Hi Bresha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to share how you got started.
I started Mystic Piece Podcast in hopes to reach extended audiences that were beyond close proximity. I had a vision of reaching large audiences through various communication channels. Mystic Piece Podcast was created at the onset of the Covid-19 Pandemic and is now airing in more than 25 countries. I wondered if others had similar feelings and emotions as myself, during isolation. It was as if my heart tumbled down a steep slope! The world stopped and we were forced to adapt to a new normal without a “How To Manual?”
In addition, I had just completed my Graduate Degree in pursuit of becoming a License Professional Counselor. I hesitated with the decision to continue along my journey or pause with the state of the world. I chose to continue because I knew that my purpose was larger than self. As a result of my choice to continue, my private practice Haskins Healing & Wellness Center PLLC was created.
During my journey of achieving my Graduate Degree, I experienced my own challenges with mental health, more specifically, Anxiety. At the time, I was working my full-time corporate job (team manager), a full-time graduate student (5-week courses), while maintaining multiple internships and managing adversity. This was the sign I needed to continue affirming my purpose and path. I am most grateful for continuing. I truly believe my personal experiences have prepared me for my future success, the guided success of my clients and the ability to truly empathize. If you have a chance to visit www.HaskinsHealingandWellnessCenter.com you will observe precisely how my personal and professional experiences have equipped me for my life’s journey, career, and purpose to serve others during similar experiences in their lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I smile because despite the difficulty experienced, I would not change my path. As I previously mentioned, I had to face adversity along the way. I faced adversity from professional colleagues and peers. This was very difficult. There were many that wanted to limit me to one purpose, skillset, passion, career, success or specialty. I wondered –would it become more difficult along the way and began to doubt my steps.
In addition, I faced health challenges as a result of taking on numerous things at once. Balance is a critical component to a healthy lifestyle in which I have learned along this path. However, there was something deeply embedded inside of me that continued to push me to the finish line. There were many times when I cried due to a lack of understanding of why others would not want to see me achieve my goals or support me along my path, while struggling to create a healthier lifestyle for myself. I had come too far and I was not ready to stop.
Again, I smile because I remained faithful and conquered the strength to continue, despite not always being able to see what was at the end of the tunnel for me.
If I could give any advice, “Everyone will not cheer for your determination, drive, success, passion and or purpose but the only cheerleader needed is YOU! Self-belief is priceless. Do not allow anyone to limit you.”
