Hi Lisa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey of event planning/event decor designer entrepreneurship began way back in 1991. I planned an engagement party during that year for a friend and realized during that time GOD had BLESSED me with this gift of taking a vision of an event to its reality.
For years, I planned for family & friends and in 2002 after being the Event Coordinator for another friend’s wedding I decided to officially birth my business called Touches of Elegance!! I began as a sole proprietor then in 2020 (yes…during a pandemic) I decided to rebrand the business to an LLC. Touches of Elegance Event Planning, Balloons & MORE Decor LLC arrived that year!
At the end of the day, my motto is “Just a Girl Boss Building Her Empire”!!
I am overjoyed to serve Houston and surrounding areas as well as destination events!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road for the most part has been rewarding, however, it has not been smooth. The most challenging time has been during this pandemic because of all the events planned prior to the pandemic and it was either they had to be canceled, postponed or switched to a drive-thru event!! I had to pivot my business in a way to still service my clients but keep them and myself both covid safe!
As you know, we’re big fans of Touches Of Elegance Event Planning, Balloons & MORE Decor LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I offer for personal & corporate levels event planning, event decor, balloons, candy/sweet treats table stations and throne chair rental!
I am known for making sure the client is pleased with the outcome every time. We have multiple consultations w/our clients leaving no stones unturned!
I have been in this business officially since 2002 so a longevity of trust to get the job done has been established long time ago. Our clients’ end of the event smiles makes us smiles!
I want the readers to know hiring me will not leave you disappointed but full of memorable moments!
I have been able to serve clients and they are able to distinguish the TOE brand from others.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Mentor- If you could locate a mentor in the same area in your field that would be awesome because they can mentor on what works and do not work within the field.
Networking – It’s always good to network either at shows or just one on one. It’s great to always have business cards on hand to give out.
Works for me- I love talking/sharing with people in my field on different subjects regarding our field. It’s always great to be an encourager and be encouraged!
I always hand out at least 2 business cards and do a quick mini promo regarding my business services while talking to a person or people.
