Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
One of the first questions people ask about PrayerBox4u is, how did you come up with this idea? The short answer is, I was led to this. I was led by God through my own experiences in life and prayer. One of the things about me that people don’t know is I feel the feeling and circumstances of others. It is a blessing to have such compassion, but also difficult because there is so much pain in this world.
I know there is something more for me to do in this world. I never want anyone to feel the loneliness and emptiness that I have felt in my life. I never want anyone to feel that kind of pain. PrayerBox4U is a way to help others while also letting go of the pain and heartache in this world. As a child of God, my job is not to fix people or even rescue anyone- it is to share the good news of the Gospel and let God handle it.
PrayerBox4U is a way to de-stigmatize mental illness and create more awareness. We have been conditioned to believe the mind and the body are separate, but they are not. We want everyone to value the attention to healthy minds. Many people believe PrayerBox4U is only for Christians. We created PrayerBox4u for those who don’t know God or perhaps have turned away.
When you can take tangible self-care items and couple them with your faith, then wrap them in a beautiful box, anyone can accept the gift. PrayerBox4u is about letting someone know you see them, care about them, and want to love them. Many of us need to say and believe these things about ourselves.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The journey has not been easy- owning and operating a small business is one of the scariest things we have ever done. We’re risking everything we have to keep going. But I remember that if God sent us to do this, we have to keep going. He will provide what we need. He knows the way even when it looks bleak.
Our biggest challenge is driving traffic to our website. We’ve had great success when showcasing what we do at in-person shopping shows, but with a saturated online market and steep competition with big box chains, our challenge is staying afloat. We pray that shortly God will lead us to a brick-and-mortar location or allow us to generate an audience online.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
PrayerBox4U is a small family-owned business. My husband and I have been married for nearly 18 years. We have 3 beautiful daughters and a puppy. It truly is a family business, in that, our children participate with us at in-person shows and behind the scenes with packaging and labeling our items. We believe it is important for our children to learn from experience what a strong work ethic is.
The items we choose to carry and create are all made by us or heavily vetted. We believe in the quality of products and the purpose and meaning behind each one. PrayerBox4U is more than a business, it is a way to touch the lives of people. There are a few things that come to mind that set us apart. Number one is our family- we are one unit, and as difficult as it gets sometimes, we always stick together.
We believe in doing what is right and loving everyone, even on your worst day. Our packaging is also what sets us apart. Any big plans?
We are patiently waiting on the Lord. We do pray that we will be led to a location to open a store. Whether it’s connected to a church or a little shop for people to stop in and shop, we wait for Him. We’d love to partner with other businesses and create relationships with party planners to create beautiful gifts for businesses or gatherings.
