Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Hicks.
Hi Christina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Houston native, having spent my childhood and formative years in this vibrant city. I discovered the art of soapmaking while browsing YouTube, and it has been a game-changer for me. I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety, and the process of making soap has been incredibly calming and therapeutic. It’s given me some much-needed focus and something beautiful and useful to create. I started making soap for myself and my family, and before I knew it, I had more than we could use. So, I decided to turn my hobby into a business and started selling my creations online in 2020. It was a tremendous success, and I was able to expand my business to farmer’s markets and pop-ups in early 2022 to get more exposure in the Houston area. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my passion for soapmaking with others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey thus far hasn’t been entirely smooth, but I knew it would be challenging when I ventured into this business. There have been a few long nights and some learning curves. However, one of the most significant obstacles I’ve had to overcome is my introverted nature. I’ve been a shy person all my life, and I’ve never found it easy to interact with others. But now that I own a business, I cannot afford to let my social anxiety get in the way. I have to approach people and talk to them about my amazing products that will enhance their self-care routine. Initially, I was hesitant to book a market or pop-up, but now I have an event almost every weekend. During such events, I play jazz music in my booth to help me calm my nerves. This creates a relaxed atmosphere that allows me to focus on the job at hand.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.

What sets Christina Louise Soapery apart from other bath and body product businesses is our dedication to helping you transform your bathroom into a personal spa. With relaxing music, scented candles, a great glass of wine, a good book, and some of our amazing products like Lavender Milk Bath or Candied Citrus Bath Tea, you can set the perfect vibe for a truly relaxing and rejuvenating experience.
What’s next?
In the next 6 months to a year, I will be expanding my product line. Additionally, I am actively pursuing opportunities to have my products stocked on store shelves. When I first started my business, I was content with it being home-based, but my goals have definitely changed. Within the next 5-10 years, I am looking to establish a brick and mortar. I am dedicated to bringing my customers the best in artisan soaps and bath products, and I am thrilled to see my business growing and evolving.
