Hidden Gems: Meet Gabriela Salazar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Salazar.

Hi Gabriela, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Maria Gabriela Salazar, better known as Gaby. I was born in the city of Maracaibo in my country Venezuela. The beloved city of the sun.

In 2013, I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Social Communication. However, I am an entrepreneur from a very young age. I started my first small business selling personalized t-shirts through Facebook (Social Media is so powerful)

I consider I am very shy, but I challenge myself to always connect with people.

Communication and public relations are the most important keys to everything in life. I was Radio Host in my country, and in Ecuador for a few months., those experiences gave me the wisdom and the tools to open my mind and understand different realities. In addition to this, Ecuador is a beautiful country, I lived in Ibarra city located at the beginning of a volcano. Part of the population only speaks Quechua and dresses very traditionally. If you go to Ecuador, you should eat their food.

Not to mention, I have had the opportunity to be in different places, cities, and countries and recognize that even though we do not speak the same language and the cultures are totally different, we are always the same inside of us.

This country has opened the doors for me, and I am so grateful for it. I have been in Houston for almost 5 years. my first job was in an Insurance agency, I learned a lot about how the system works. how people live here, from taxes, credit score, and even how to buy a new car. Everything was new to me.

Thanks to that I realized there are many people in the same situation. For this reason, every time I could help someone I did and continue to do so.

I started in the world of real estate because when I was working with home insurance, many people asked me about how they could get their first home. That is my BIG WHY I became a realtor. I fell in love with this career, I feel it is a combination of everything that I love (communications, public relations, sales, helping people, different cultures).

Every day is different and every day is a challenge.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, so much further from the reality. It has been a challenging road, full of fear and uncertainty. Living by myself and my little dog has been a hard experience, not having anyone when I was sick, it was hard. For a while, I lived with depression, and I didn’t know. Depression is a deep sadness that leads you to think that nothing makes sense. Living with that condition limits you. Very few people can understand that feeling. Other people can only judge you. I realized that I had that condition when I had important events and I was not happy. I just wanted to be in bed.

For that reason, I am very open to talking about this topic, I know that there are many people going through it that might be they don’t know or just don’t want to talk about it.

In my case, I looked for help from a psychologist, that helped in that situation. At this point in my life, I feel that I can do whatever I want.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
II am a realtor. I specialize in helping people find their first home. I am different from others because I feel that more than achieving a sale, it is giving my clients the best experience during the process. I consider myself very honest, I like talking to people in the most clear way, and also I teach my clients about the buying process.

I invite everybody to follow me on my Instagram where I am always sharing valuable content.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think good luck comes when your mind is coherent and clear. You become in what you think. Bad luck shows up when you have bad thoughts.
