Hi Kemah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! My name is Kemah Duopu and I’m the owner of Harmon Polish. Harmon Polish is a vegan nail & selfcare brand inspiring our community to be their ultimate self. Each nail polish is named after positive affirmations and words. I created Harmon Polish to inspire people like myself, aspiring entrepreneurs and young adults seeking to discover their passion. People who are determined to beat the odds stacked against them and break generational curses. People that push every day to chase and exceed their goals. Harmon Polish is for individuals that refuse to give up on themselves!
In 2016, I took a leap of Faith and moved from my hometown of Minneapolis, MN to Los Angeles, CA. Moving to Los Angeles came with new challenges. In 2018, I was laid off from my job. I hit rock bottom, but I refused to pack my bags and head back to Minneapolis. I wanted to prove to myself that I can overcome my hardships. I told myself, “If I have enough money to get my nails done then things are not that bad.” My little self care mantra became my safe haven. With my attitude of “things are not that bad if I can get my nails done” and goal setting, my life took a dramatic turn. I was able to secure a new job which led to me obtaining 3 investment licenses and moving to Houston TX with my son. I truly believe that setting goals and nail polish (lol) changed my life for the better. I wanted to inspire people through nail care so I created Harmon Polish.”
Harmon Polish is dedicated in the memory of Patricia Harmon. She was the epitome of success, fiery, and sophistication. She came to America from Liberia with nothing; but made a life for herself and her family. As a nurse to her patients, she was selfless and caring. A sister, she was supportive. As a friend to many, she was the voice of reason. As a mother, she was warm and compassionate and as my aunt, she was my inspiration.
I hope any person that wears Harmon Polish is inspired to chase their dreams and shoot for the stars. Everyone has that fire in them to do great things in this world, I just want every person to see that.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a single mother, the road has been bumpy as time. From working last night until the early morning on Harmon Polish projects then preparing my kiddo for school to making personal sacrifices to invest in myself and Harmon Polish. There’s been sleepless nights and hard times but it’s all worth it. Those scarifies and challenges do not compare to the benefits and rewards of owning Harmon Polish. Every step of this journey has made me stronger and wiser. I hope to use the challenges I encounter to teach and inspire others to embrace their entrepreneurship journey.

Harmon Polish is more than a vegan nail polish brand. It’s about creating a community of strong, beautiful and powerful people who are determine to chase their goals. I hope Harmon Polish can be that brand people flock to for inspiration and positive energy. Harmon Polish is the first nail polish brand embrace our community’s ambitions and mental health. Outside of nail polish, we are branching into other aspect of self care. We recently launch cuticle oil, affirmation cards and a self care subscription box.

We recently worked with Angel Surviving Cancer, a nonprofit organization in Houston, to bring awareness to breast cancer. In the month of October, we donate of 20% of our P. Harmon Collection sales to their charity. Harmon Polish is always looking to work with brands who are aiming to make an impact in their community.
