Today we’d like to introduce you to NijaAshley Dalton.
NijaAshley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Originally from Chicago, Illinois but raised in Houston, Texas I am a mother of five, four beautiful girls and one son. With just at 17 years in the beauty industry and counting. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a hairstylist; I mean like literally since I was a child, I wanted to be a hairstylist and look at me now. I love everything about my industry/career so much that three years ago, I made the decision to transition from just a hairstylist to a business owner because I wanted to teach and allow upcoming hairstylists to have a safe place to learn and grown. I believe hair is my purpose and that I am to use it to change lives and I plan to do just that. BU has so much more to show the world and we are just getting started!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road to BU Salon & HairLounge has not been smooth at all but honestly what road is smooth when you are building a brand. Though the road hasn’t been smooth, I appreciate everyone’s speed bump and obstacles as I have learned so much along the way.
I have never been afraid of any challenge, but I will have to say that transitioning to a tech world and having to learn how to navigate this new world of marketing with social media and computers has been a long lesson there is something new every day. So, though there are what some may call struggles, I just call it as being a part of the process.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
BU Salon & HairLounge is a full-service salon located in Houston’s Greater Area of town and was built as a place for woman to grow and support one another; BU is a safe space. We specialize in healthy hair, offering an array of services such as Silk press, Traditional SewIns, Tape-In Installs and more. We also offer high-quality hair extensions and healthy hair care products.
BU is a salon where one can be themselves without being judged; everyone here is trained and equipped with the knowledge and morals to support any client that walks through the doors of BU.
We are here to support and uplift the community, all while keeping your hair healthy and flawless; we are a learning environment and take pride in making sure that anyone who chooses the BU EXPERIENCE leaves satisfied and fulfilled.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Along my journey so far, the most important lesson I have learned is staying FAITHFUL & FOCUSED.
With all of the social media, it can be at times, hard to stay focused on the plans you and your God discussed; I can’t sit here and act like there hasn’t been times when I have looked at others and felt I should be ahead of them or at least where they are. There haven’t been times when I have questioned if this was for me, but like always I had to check myself and remind myself that my journey is no one else’s but mine.
What me and my God talked about has no time limit of rush stamp on it as long as I stay FAITHFUL & FOCUSED things will turn out the way they are supposed to when they are supposed.
