Hidden Gems: Meet Omosede Oronsaye of O.V.Oronsaye & Associates

Today we’d like to introduce you to Omosede Oronsaye.

Hi Omosede, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was probably in 6th or 7th grade when my dad decided to go to law school. Married with four children and a dream, he embarked on this journey that would take a toll on the family. It wasn’t easy, but it was well worth it in the end. I was very much a part of my father’s law school experience. My dad was not very savvy with computers, he would get home from school, he would get a pen and paper and write out his homework and have me type it all out, which he would later edit. I did this for two and a half years, and never complained once. After he graduated and pass the bar, I shadowed and interned for him every summer, sometimes during the school year. I learned a lot about the practice of law. I enjoyed the feeling of truly helping those who cannot not do it on their own.

The experience I had working with my father gave me the courage to venture it out on my own. After graduating with a Master’s in Public Administration. I consider working in politics for a while before embarking on this law school journey. I soon realized law was my ultimate passion.

I attended and graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas. After passing the bar, I opened my own practice. It has been a beautiful thing. It takes courage to live your life the way you want, especially when you’re passionate about changing other people’s lives, for the better.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s a quote from Jim Rohn which states “Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Don’t wish it were easier; wish you were better.”

The legal practice isn’t for the faint of hearts. I am a fairly new practicing attorney, so I definitely have my struggles. I’m sure I’ve embarrassed myself a handful of times in the presence of judges, state prosecutors and opposing counsel. But it happens! I’m human and many other attorneys have experienced many trials and tribulations! Its part of the learning process.

President Obama once said “The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won’t. It’s whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere.” There is no room for shame when you’re building.

Fortunately for me, I have been around the legal practice for over a decade. I know the ins and outs of the business, but I am still learning, perfecting, and understanding the law. No attorney knows it all, but the best ones keep making improvements to better their knowledge of the law.

As you know, we’re big fans of O.V.Oronsaye & Associates PLLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?

I am a no-nonsense attorney. What my clients value from me is my honesty. I do not sugarcoat results; I inform them of the truth. I let them know what I can do for them and what is essentially realistic. If you come to me, there are no surprises! I have the knowledge and skills to help others and I have employees who understand that notion. Clients are already nervous and terrified when they are seeking legal counsel and sometimes do not know what to expect. The best thing you can do is keep them informed of reality and not sell them a dream just to get them to retain you as their legal counsel.

How do you think about happiness?
Happiness is about self-fulfillment. No one is responsible for the happiness that you deserve. Only you can truly bring joy to your life. Self love, self worth, self appreciation and self Value is how I think about happiness. First and foremost, all praises to my Lord! I thank God for my family, they truly make me happy, and I am nothing with the sacrifices both my mom and dad made for me to sustain the life I have now. Putting a smile on their face is essential what makes my life gratifying. My career has brought a lot of happiness in people’s lives as well, which, in return, has been fulfilling. I am truly proud of that. My friends are a great addition to my happiness as well.
