Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance Stephens. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Terrance E. D. Stephens was born and raised in Houston, Texas. At the age of 7 years old, Terrance began modeling in local mall fashion shows. By the age of 8 Terrance was signed and working with several local modeling agencies and retailers in the Houston area.
In 1999, Terrance completed his formal male modeling at Mayo Hill Centre for Modeling. Upon completing his training Terrance went on to work with local modeling agencies, retailers, independent designers, and trained up and coming models until 2001. In 2019 Terrance decided to return to his first love of modeling at the age of 40.
Terrance realized that at his age commercial print modeling/ acting would be the key to success. Over the last several years Terrance has taken acting classes, workshops, and private acting training. You can always find Terrance consistently training and enhancing his skills at Neal Hamil, Page Parkes, Bill Herndon, and other workshops in the Houston area. Recently, Terrance started his own during private one on one acting and modeling coaching service. Where his focus is on getting model and actors ready to be signed by an agent, agent review competitions or client direct bookings. Starting April 2022, Terrance will be also hosting modeling and acting seminars and workshops focusing on the basic tools to be successful in the industry.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Terrance has a unique story that can motivate and influence many people. In 2002 Terrance was diagnosed with asthma which caused him to be placed on steroids. However, the steroids cause Terrance to go from 165 pounds to 415 pounds. In 2016 Terrance desired a healthier life so he decided to undergo bariatric surgery. Terrance has currently lost over 170 pounds by eating healthier, exercising, and changing his thinking about food and life. Terrance is currently working becoming a big male model. Although Terrance is 5’11, he fits the standard of most big men in America. Terrance is also working on launching the “Talk To T’ lifestyle blog. This blog will feature Terrance experiences with weight loss, fashion, cooking, and travel. The goal of the blog is to inspire people of all ages to live their best life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about your work?
It is so important that model or actor be trained in this day and time. I have trained at several modeling schools in the Houston area, and continue to takes classes even after doing this for over 20 years. A two-hour course is not long enough to make you a master at a specific subject. You must continue to practice until it becomes part of you and your everyday routine. My job as a coach is to work with my student to help them build their skills after they have the basics. Our industry often talk about being client ready and this only happens thru practice.
My goal is to offer affordable prices so my students can afford the continue education or training until they start making the money as a working talent. Currently, I work with a mix of students ranging from aspiring, independent, and signed talents. Each receiving 1 on 1 training on an as-needed basis.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
There are so many people to thank. First, God for allowing me to have a dream and let it come to reality. Then my family and friends, LaToya Pitre, Gloria Benedict, Alley Shell, Kerri Glenn, Alicia Amie, Kaitlin Sliger, Sara Gaston, Neal Hamil Modeling Agency, and Patrick Chance.
