Today we’d like to introduce you to LaToya Robinson.
Hi LaToya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello, I’m LaToya Robinson. I’m a licensed esthetician who was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I decided to move to Houston, Texas to start my business because I have always wanted to move to Houston to raise my family! I started my business right after esthetics school, but it was tough. I was bootstrapping to get everything I needed for my business. And yes, with doing so, I ran into a few roadblocks. I launched originally in July 2019 but was a force to close when the pandemic started. It took a little more time to get to where I am because I was doing everything alone in a new city where I didn’t know anyone and seeing the fellow estheticians that started out with me excel in the industry was a little discouraging. I felt like I was failing and became very frustrated with my situation! But I knew deep down I had a passion for skin, and I wanted to share my talent with everyone, especially those who may benefit from my knowledge of skin! So I kept my head up and kept pushing myself no matter how hard it got. Then the universe shifted, lol! Around September 2020, I started to get back to work with getting my business relaunched by November 2020. And with God’s grace, I did just that! Not only did I reopened my spa studio, but I also launched my skincare line! What I noticed was the harder I worked, the more things started to fall into place for me, and I have been pushing forward since.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My struggle along the way was building my clientele and customer base in a new city. When I moved to Houston, I really didn’t know anyone.

Diverse Dermasthetics Skin and Body Clinic is a spa studio located inside of Sola Salons (The Woodlands)! I offer advanced skincare treatments such as Dermaplane, Chemical Peels, LED Light Treatments, and a wide range of facials! I specialize in Hyperpigmentation, Eczema, and Acne. We are a spa that strives for excellence! Our goal is uplifting clients and giving them more confidence with beautiful skin. Our clients can’t stop talking about the unbelievable results they received from treatments using our modern-day technologies!
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Two lessons I have learned is to make sure you are putting away savings and make sure your business is running like a corporation no matter how small it is.
