Today we’d like to introduce you to Janie Johnson.
Janie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Initially, all I had was this idea and desire to do more. There was so much red tape in my previous position and I wanted to offer more to staff, to families, to the communities I worked with. One day, I bought a book; How to Start a Consulting Agency and fell in love with all the book was promising for my new career as a consultant. I have always loved helping others, but I had to determine how that would look as a business. I niched down, determining that career and business consulting were going to be the two main genres of service that I would provide.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There is absolutely NOTHING in life that is a complete and smooth road. We must recognize the bumps and challenges along the way and problem solve to create our own version of smooth! The biggest struggle I have faced is keeping abreast with the marketing trends. I am very much a traditional-style marketer. I love clean lines, beautiful still photos, and great, compelling copy to sell my services or products. With the technology changes and trends, most people enjoy and expect to see video content. Finding the right tools/apps and creating a marketing schedule have helped me combat this issue.
We’ve been impressed with Power Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I help corporate professionals increase their salaries and land their dream jobs. I offer career coaching to help those who are unsure or still exploring their career possibilities. I also provide resume and cover letter writing services.
I help aspiring business owners start and/or scale their business by teaching them about their brand story and how their customers should feel when interacting with their content or purchasing from them. I also show them strategies and tools to analyze their business’s performance and how to capitalize on what the data says about their business. I also offer social media marketing and management. I design social media content, websites and website content, and other media or branding needs such as flyers, business cards, etc.
I am known for helping clients see the bigger picture in their lives. I love when they have that “Aha Moment” and really see where their career/business can take them. When they begin understanding what systems and supports they can use to sustain success in their lives, it’s so rewarding.
My background in psychology and human services really sets me apart from others. I really have an ability to understand people and what they want for themselves and their families. I pair that with my experience in corporate America running campaigns and managing organizations to deliver irrefutable results for clients which helps them grow in their careers and/or businesses.
What are your plans for the future?
I am creating career and business-specific calendars, planners, and journals that will be released later this year! I am looking forward to providing significant, usable resources that will help people level up in their everyday lives as well as in their businesses and careers. Most people are looking for time freedom and financial freedom, my upcoming resources will help with both!
