Inspiring Conversations with La’Tara Jackson of Pretty Beast Fitness & Lifestyle

Today we’d like to introduce you to La’Tara Jackson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ha! Well, they say when a woman cuts her hair, she is about to change her life. I cut my hair in 2011, and my reality drastically shifted shortly after. Transformation doesn’t happen overnight, but change can. I was transforming, and I couldn’t control it. At that time, my life reflected the status quo. I was married with two beautiful boys living in a white house without the picket fence. I’d been working for the same company for some time. My relationships were long-standing. We were blessed with a great community of friends and family. It seemed like my life was ideal. The truth was my soul was ready to evolve and expand. I felt a calling drawing me to write. The blogs were on the rise then, and I was intrigued. I figured it was what I was supposed to do. Being a blogger would mean being your own boss, which sounds great, but we all know there is more to the story. It can be unstable. As a working Mom with an entrepreneur for a husband, I saw firsthand the risks that come with signing your own checks. Still, I was adamant. Entrepreneurship was starting to sound like my destiny. This change would dictate my life path and would be the beginning of my transformation. Today, I am a writer and published author amongst other things. My first book, Ground Up a Self-love Workbook, is available now on Amazon. I wrote it for other Trail Blazers and those working to break generational curses. See, what I called healing all these years was purpose. I did not realize in 2011 or 2012, God was calling me to break the cycle of oppression for my family lineage. Ground Up reflects all God has brought me through and the tools He gave me to overcome. In addition to the book, I have a blog detailing the miracles He performed through me. You can check it out on my website.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh nooooo! Not at all! I have cried many days and nights, pleading with God about the journey. Going against tradition will require you to break some rules. Evolution and success come with a price. It is called sacrifice. One of the first things I noticed God starts destroying to get you in alignment is unequally yoked connections. Pursuing my dreams would cost me my marriage, friendships, and even business opportunities. I also struggled with unbelief and self-awareness. At the beginning of my alignment journey, I had little belief in myself. That’s what a broken heart does. It affects your belief system, and you cannot see yourself or the world clearly. Looking back, I could not see how I was self-sabotaging. Often, we think the enemy is attacking us, but the enemy is the inner me. Thank God for Jesus and his saving grace. I can honestly say without the gift of forgiveness I never would have made it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I birthed PBF&L in 2016 and turned it into a business in 2019. Shortly after starting my first blog/vlog, I realized it would take some time to generate income, so I put it on the back burner. I found another business opportunity with network marketing and started a free community fitcamp. Surprisingly I’d go from having only one fitcamper to 30 plus in a short time. It seemed I’d sparked another passion and an opportunity to serve. Oddly enough, because of my limited belief system, I felt like an imposter because I was not certified. The affliction is often the blessing. I was a Wellness Coach, and there are plenty out there. But not many are certified. I became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2018 and 2019, Certified Yoga Instructor. On my healing journey, God constantly calls me to go deeper. It is not enough to eat healthily and work out for aesthetics. We each have a soul that needs that same attention. I wanted to offer this same wisdom to those He would call me to teach. We can be made whole when we acknowledge the physical and spiritual body. If I was promoting wellness, we had to have wholeness. Ironically what tends to catapult our healing journey is what we can see. We start with our physical body. I am happy to say I have helped many start or continue their alignment journey by accepting their whole being.

I am most proud of my ability to be vulnerable and evolve. Often, we become so attached to the vision we do not allow it to grow. Destruction tends to precede expansion. Not many of us can handle the idea of losing it all. God will always call us higher. But we sometimes block our blessings by holding on to little without realizing He wants to give us more. I knew I was more than a Wellness Coach. You can be more than one thing. The goal is to be ONE, as in whole. I am first a child of the Most High God and a Holistic Life Coach, Author, and Speaker.

My heart, authenticity, and humility are what separates me from others. I am tenacious, and I do not believe in giving up. I have learned that No can mean not right now. If one thing does not work, I try another. I am not afraid of a good challenge. I am aware of my identity. I know how precious I am to God and what He says about each of us. We ought to be leaders, having dominion and ownership. I strive to be an example of that and promote it in my business.

I am known for my sayings. I have a way with words. Many of my peers and others knew I was a speaker and storyteller before I would embody or claim it. It is funny how others can see our truth before we do. Writers are speakers, and speakers are writers. When words are your gift, any way you use them can connect you to purpose.

At this point in my business, I am most interested in opportunities to work with other Trail Blazers and speaking engagements. It is the year of expansion for me. I have taken all the knowledge and wisdom I have acquired on my journey and put it into my first book, Ground Up a Self-love Workbook. You could benefit from this tool if you consider yourself a generational curse breaker. Knowledge is vital, but applied knowledge is power. Ground Up is a resource for both. It is full of wisdom and assist you in your application. For those deep in their alignment journey or embarking on entrepreneurship (in addition to the book), check out my Ground Up blog. I share stories of faith and how God continues to perform miracles in my life. As we ascend into our God self, we are confronted with new devils at every new level. Hearing testimonies of faith can help build your belief about what is possible. With God, all things are possible.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If you take nothing else from this interview, I hope you leave knowing never give up on your dreams. With God, all things are possible. Your grooming season is your winning season. It is when you see what makes you who you are, and if you allow God to do His work in you, whose you are. Identity is a prerequisite for prosperity. Peace, Blessings, and Miracles Loves.
