Inspiring Conversations with Mary Thomas of House of Maribella Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Thomas.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?

We carefully curate pieces to compliment a unique style and speak to the complete woman, who loves easy sophistication and subtle glamour.

Our customers get a full specialty boutique experience right at their fingertips!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is not always easy. Starting out on my own did come with its share of struggles. I have learned a great deal since launching my company. However, I have had challenges as it relates to being a business owner.

One challenge I have encountered along the way is with funding, I started my company using my own money but that’s not sustainable long term. So I learned the importance of building business credit.

Secondly, having a business that’s primarily online-based requires a solid marketing strategy to make sure I am reaching the right customer. That’s tough at times.

Overall, the challenges/struggles have turned into lessons! I remain prayerful through the process, knowing that my faith will see me through.

As you know, we’re big fans of House of Maribella Boutique . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
House of Maribella Boutique was birthed from my love of jewelry, eyewear and fashion accessories. Which I get from watching my Mom dress up for special occasions. For this reason, I made sure she was part of the vision. The company name is a combination of my first name and my Mothers middle name.

House of Maribella started with only accessories such as jewelry and sunglasses. Then one day my friends and I were discussing the challenges they were experiencing in finding flattering clothing in plus sizes.

So I began researching wholesale vendors who offered standard and plus size apparel. My goal was to make sure I curated pieces that were beautiful and flattering. Clothing that would help women, regardless of size, to look and feel sexy and confident.

I am most proud of the responses and feedback I receive from my customers when they first wear an item purchased from House of Maribella. Receiving a picture or being tagged in their selfies on social media, makes me smile, every time!

House of Maribella caters to women who loves fashion and luxury. Our pieces are carefully curated to be unique while staying on trend with the movement of fashion.

We offer apparel in sizes ranging from small to 4x., fashion accessories and jewelry. And this past summer, House of Maribella opened a boutique suite with The Painted Tree Boutique Store in Katy, Texas.

Our physical suite is stocked with both standard and plus size apparel, handbags, jewelry and hats.

House of Maribella also participates in local pop up shop events as often as possible. I love being able to connect with people and see the look on their faces when they discover the perfect dress or piece of jewelry or a statement tee that speaks to them.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is that it’s critical to invest in yourself and your dream. I realized that I have to show up for myself and my business, everyday.

Pay for the training, stay up on fashion trends, make connections with vendors who offer good, quality inventory and build trust with your customer base.

Stay consistent.
