Hi Omolola, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It was at the beginning of 2018 thatI took yet another leap of faith, and moved to Texas. I’d already gained a significant amount of experience in the behavioral health field from Louisiana to Georgia. Through my experience, I’ve always kept a vision and planned on enhancing my entrepreneurial spirit and journey into my career. My work ranges from community-based agencies, rehabilitation centers, psychiatric hospitals, and private practices….I’ve pretty much done it all! Most importantly, I took my experiences and tried my best to stay solution-focused on the challenges that I faced. Worst-case scenario, I was in situations that many would have given up in, but I just continued to overcome. That is when I recognized my passion was solely in helping, and empowering individuals to make better of themselves and the systems set up to see them fail. Fast forward to today, I collected all of my resources and experience to become a solo practitioner of mental health counseling. Overall, it’s been such a rewarding journey! From front to back of house duties, clinical work, and marketing tools, I do it all for the growth and development of a new gem in our Houston community. At Omi Wellness & Counseling, we are a virtual streamline of services to our client’s mental well-being. I assist my clients with psychoeducation, tools, and skills to transform and make therapeutic lifestyle changes for their overall success. My motto is “Wherever You Are Along Your Journey, OWC Can Help”. I work with my clients in navigating treatment towards a determined point of change. My business values are creativity and a variety of treatment approaches.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been more of a new paved road; mostly smooth, yet bumpy along some ways. I was faced with the headache of credentialing with insurance panels to expand client accessibility to quality care. This minor trial really helped me birth my ideal client who wouldn’t mind paying for my services out of pocket. Although this is ideal for my business structure, I recognized the benefits of taking insurance would empower more individuals to get the care they deserve; c’est un juste equilibre. Another struggle has been maintaining financial power in the business, and being able to leverage capital to invest in better operations for my practice. To overcome this, OWC is now a recipient of multiple grants and a member of investment cohorts where we can better scale our financial plans. We’re so appreciative of our sponsors and supporters.

Any big plans?
In the new year, I look forward to nationwide licensure endorsement/campaign (Currently a Florida telehealth provider). This allows me to reach a larger market, and to enhance my brand to become the traveling celebrity therapist I desire to be. Another future plan is to grow as a group practice, and to franchise Omi Wellness & Counseling in my hometown state of California. Omi Wellness & Counseling will be known as the holistic wellness center that treats every client with the utmost respect on their healing and recovery journey.
