Thanks for sharing your story with us Andrea. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I obtained my Esthetics license and laser hair removal professional license over four years ago. Along with my state-issued licenses, I also obtained body contouring and Intramuscular Injections certifications through our MD! I have a passion to help others so being able to enhance one’s beauty through medical spa services is so rewarding. I have been fortunate to call Amerejuve Med Spa my home throughout the entirety of my career. I trained and worked through lunch breaks and after hours until I went from good to exceptional. There are no shortcuts to my success, just an unparalleled work ethic and a desire to help others reclaim their confidence. When the opportunity came to open and manage the Amerejuve Shepherd location I took the ball and ran with it! I am confident that I have laid out a great foundation for the success of Amerejuve Shepherd and I am so thankful to have the best team by my side, Stephanie Miller who is my right-hand woman and Ana Vazquez, who is our front desk coordinator!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’m not going to lie. The people who promised to land me a job right out of school ghosted me. It took three months for Amerejuve to call me in for the most intimidating interview of my life. To sum it up, I was told I was inadequate but was offered the job anyway because they saw my “potential”. I worked myself to the bone and sure there were days that I even went home crying. In November 2014, Amerejuve went through a major restructuring process and the majority of the employees jumped ship. In the face of adversity you have two options: run away from the fire or become the fire! I believe that if you have the willingness to outlearn and outwork everyone, you can achieve anything your heart desires. Also, I don’t believe that there is such thing as an unrealistic goal. I set new goals for myself every day and even make vision boards. Plant the seed and watch it grow!
Please tell us about Amerejuve Med Spa.
I am results-driven and specialize in many esthetic procedures such as Microneedling aka “Vampire Facial”, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels, Laser Hair Removal, and non-invasive body contouring such as Coolsculpting and VelaShape. I once told someone “I make people beautiful for a living what’s your super power?!” What I’m most proud of is the clientele I have built up and building that trust with clients. Most of our business has been from referrals and that’s truly one of the biggest compliments! What sets me apart is my honesty and realistic expectations I give to clients. There is not a one-size-fits-all treatment, therefore, each client gets their own customized treatment plan. Not to mention the medical devices we use are top-of-the-line so your results will be delivered! Medical device companies such as Syneron-Candela, Bellus Medical, Zeltiq and Allergan just to name a few.
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
Yes, let’s talk about opportunities! We are living in a time where women have prevailed and become more powerful and influential than ever. We have discovered our voice and are owning it. Women have created a platform of leadership roles and endless opportunities for themselves especially in fields that were once male-dominated. For example, I have clients from all walks of life. Some are Houston’s top doctors, lawyers, engineers, full-time mothers, students, business owners, you name it. One characteristic they all have in common is their ambition and they may not even realize, but they are inspiring and empowering other women to not only pursue their dreams but to seize them.
