Today we’d like to introduce you to Caelyn Pho.
Caelyn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I actually don’t remember how or where the idea came from, but when I was 12, I wanted to start a “blog” to share my love for writing. Can you imagine? A little 12 years old contemplating on which platform to use? I don’t even think the term “blogger” was even a common term back then!
As the years passed, the thought was pushed to the back of my mind. It wasn’t until a few years ago, I had stumbled across another blog, that I started toying with the idea of starting a blog again. It would then take a few more years for me to gain the confidence to actually pursue this dream of mine. By then, I had a strong sense of wanting to help and inspire others by touching on topics that usually made others uncomfortable. I also wanted to share my love for affordable casual/street style fashion! After much contemplation and with the amazing support of my boyfriend and best friends, The Cozy Catalyst was created.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, there were so many things I struggled with and actually still do. From dealing with the fear of failing to create acceptable content for my audience and potential brand partners to constantly playing the comparison game, I have definitely learned a lot since starting this exciting yet terrifying chapter of my life!
My advice for those who are just starting their journey is to not let your feelings be wavered by the words and criticisms of others. Even when they come from those closest to you. Do not let doubt stem from others, because no matter how small your progress is, all that matters is that you are working hard towards your passion.
Please tell us about The Cozy Catalyst.
The Cozy Catalyst’s goal is to not only create fashionable, yet affordable, casual outfits inspired for daily activities, but to also inspire women to embrace personal growth and self-love.
When creating The Cozy Catalyst, I knew that I wanted to be as genuine and relatable as possible. I wanted my audience to know that I was not perfect and really wanted to find a way to portray my personality through the web without coming off as “fake”.
Although I struggled with knowing that growing the brand would be much more difficult if I didn’t do things or appeal to my audience a certain way, I believe that my authenticity is what sets me apart from others and is also one of the things I am most proud of as a brand.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I definitely believe that although you may not be able to choose what situations are thrown at you, you do have the power to choose how they influence you. As ironic as this may sound, I think it is my negative experiences that have played more of a major role in setting me up for success later in life by teaching me to utilize these lessons as fuel to grow into the person I am now.
