Today we’d like to introduce you to Camilla Lott.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Camilla. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I have been in Houston Texas for eleven years but I am originally from Los Angeles California. I also had the pleasure of living in Las Vegas Nevada for seven years before moving to Houston. While in Las Vegas I completed cosmetology school to become a licensed hairstylist and my goal while moving to Houston was to go into the hair industry and work in a salon. Having a change of heart once I was settled, I decided to give the restaurant industry a try and I became a server. I can say that this was my calling because I have now been in this industry for ten years, this path has been very rewarding to me which made it hard to leave. Crafting has always been a hobby of mine and I spend countless hours at Hobby Lobby, a crafting store in Houston. A few years ago, I accepted the position of Event Manager at one of the most well-known seafood restaurants here in Houston. After seeing different event planners come in and decorate the dining room for the guests, I would always say I can do some of these things on my own. One of my really good friends recognized my talents and hired me to plan her wedding. She was pleased with the turnout of her event and invested in me to build my own company.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have most definitely been faced with challenges along my journey. As with any business, everyday brings a new challenge and I look at every challenge as a new learning experience. Other struggles I’ve had to deal with were keeping up with the latest trends to keep my customers satisfied. I also have to find more effective ways to execute plans that I learn after every event.
Please tell us about Lott’s of Fun Events and Party Planning.
We offer full event planning, same day event coordination, baby showers, birthdays, retirement, ladies night and much more. We also offer full staffing and bartending services. We are especially known for our professionalism as a company. We strive to make a lasting impression on every client ensuring that they never lose the fun in life! Our planning is uniquely done because being creative and crafty comes natural, so it never feels like work. I have a strong belief that when you love what you do, you will always put 100 percent into making the vision come alive. Our staffing services are all experienced servers and bartenders with seven or more years of experience. We aim to provide high-end service for all of our clients.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
First I would suggest to never compare yourself to any other entrepreneur. Sometimes you may find yourself competing with someone who is not competing with you or that you may not even know. Instead of trying to outwork someone that you may see as a competitor, try surpassing yourself from the previous months and setting new goals for the months ahead. Never lose focus, always push yourself to be better than yesterday. Stay motivated, there is always someone that is intimidated by your potential. Just do not allow that to distract you from your ultimate goal.
