Crystal, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Wow! How I got start? Growing up, I had the privilege to watch a woman not just transform homes but transform lives. There are still visions of women who smiled to see this decorator designer showcase come alive on their walls. Her flower arrangements were exquisite and unique. I can still smell the sweet aroma of those candles. This lady was a top seller for her Home Interiors business and she was my grandmother. I admired her career and I begin shadowing the business. We did weddings, showers, shows and so much more. Making bows was my first little business. The compliments from the clients were heartwarming and I knew I wanted to make people feel that way all the time. Chasing the “American Dream” I worked in Corporate Accounting. Being a wife and mother of three beautiful children kept me busy. Yet my desire to fulfill my destiny was still there. I proved it every time it was one of the kids birthdays – lol! Nothing was too much! All out wasn’t enough. It was obvious that my passion was decorating. If anyone said party my flame begin to flicker and the vision for their event would be crystal clear in my mind. My family and friends encouraged me to pursue my dream and start my event planning service. As faith would have it, what seemed impossible came thru adversity. Stepping out my comfort zone; leaving fear and doubt behind Crystal Clear Events officially became a reality January 2018. I’m now walking in my purpose. It’s not a job to me because I enjoy what I’ve been gifted to do. The smiles on my client’s faces seeing their dreams into crystal clear realities brings my heart pure joy.
I’m blessed with loyal clients and being a full-time professional event planner is one of the best decisions I’ve made. I love this profession where I am today yet I know the best is yet to come. At every event, you will see my character of dedicated, professional, elegant and exquisite, hard work that I’m truly proud to represent.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are no shortcuts when you’re building anything, especially a business. I’m glad that I learned early in life the value of hard work. The road wasn’t smooth at first but that comes with the territory. As I was making the transition into the business, there were individuals who tried placing stumbling blocks by taking ownership of my craft. I’d get calls for help and provide the service, yet my business wouldn’t get acknowledged. That inspired me to rise above those challenges and obstacles enhancing my talents and work ethics. The support of my inner circle clearly helps me to live out my dreams. I vowed that if I could help any other young women on starting their journey with sound advice I would. I’d make sure to encourage them to pursue their passions. Though it may not be easy keep reaching for your dreams, it will happen if you believe. You have to believe. There is a plethora of room for your business. We don’t all have the same ideas. We’re unique and just because we are in the same profession doesn’t mean we are in competition. As women, we must complement one another and learn how to embrace each other. Sharing is caring. Lastly, Whatever you do – don’t ever give up!

I am an Event Planner/Designer. The owner of Crystal Clear Event. I create, design, and plan Baby & Bridal Showers, Dinners, Birthday Galas, Kids Parties, Weddings, Receptions, Family Reunions, and a plethora of many other events. Our motto is “We believe in celebrations both Big and Small” My specialties are providing beautiful, professional designs, setups and creating unique event ideas. I am widely known for my creativity and unique décor; transforming any space into an elegant atmosphere. I guarantee that you’ll know my punctuality of giving attention to the tiniest details. What I’m most proud of is seeing my clients smiles and sometimes even tears of happiness on the day of their event. I’m humble of the gift that I have to make the visions of their dreams come to life. I believe that every milestone, every moment that’s special should be celebrated. There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
My advice on mentoring is to find someone who’s been in business. Experience makes a difference, especially when they’re successful at what they’ve accomplished. You are able to draw that knowledge which is power through that connection. I believe it’s essential for personal and professional development to achieve your career goals.
I’ve done a lot of networking in general through social media. It helped me to embrace others with like-minded people sharing the same goals and aspirations. I can’t emphasize enough the importance of empowerment. Being a woman in business, you have to have encouragement. Attending women empowerment seminars has given me the desire to reach even higher standards for my business. All of these things have worked well for me in this profession.
