Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Darnell.
Dawn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I created by blog when I had my son as a way to document his month to month progress and my life as a new mom. Little did I realize, it would become so much more than a mom blog and it would become an outlet for me to pursue my passion for fitness and fashion. It wasn’t until I openly shared my experiences with postpartum depression on my blog, and my post was published in the Huffington Post did I realize how much of an impact my blog could have in helping others. Today, my blog has become so much more than a personal mom journal, but rather a place for inspiration and encouragement for women to pursue living their best life. I hope through my blog, I can continue to grow my community of strong women, who uplift others, and who change this world for the better.
Has it been a smooth road?
Blogging and being an influencer is not easy, especially since there is no real guideline to success. I think the hardest part of my journey was finding my own way and realizing that there is no one right way to being successful in this industry. You have to find what works for you, and you have to be passionate enough about what you are doing that you are willing to keep going even though you don’t even really know if what your doing will lead you to where you want to be. There are a lot of trial and errors, especially running your own business where you are not only the creative director but also the CEO and CFO. You will wear many hats running a blog, and you have to learn to balance it all. My one advice to women who want to start blogging is doing it for the right reason. Do it because you are passionate about something that you want to share it to the world.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dawn P. Darnell Blog – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a lifestyle blogger with a focus on faith, fitness, fashion, and family. I share my personal stories of failures, accomplishment, and everything in between in hopes to inspire women and to encourage women to live their best life. I am most proud of my brand philanthropic partnerships to raise awareness in our community and to help those in need. I think what sets me apart from most brands is I am not afraid to share my spiritual views or to delve a little deeper to talk about issues that we are facing in our world.
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I believe being an influencer has shown me the true power women have. This industry is predominantly female. Women who share their ideas, their thoughts, and are shaping today’s influencer market. I had the opportunity to have dinner with the Darling Magazine, Magnolia Journal, and Joanna Gaines herself and we talked about this subject. It was refreshing to see so many creative, empowering women, who want nothing but to change this world for the better one little space of the internet at a time. Women are being heard, and the influencer market is a big example of that.
