Life and Work with Gwendolyn S. Woody

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gwendolyn S. Woody.

Gwendolyn S., please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
How did I start?

To be honest, my story started when I was a child, but it manifested a little over two years ago. I have a strong family history of diabetes (17 of them passed away), and I found a way to help people heal and live better; so their families won’t have to go through what my family has. I have had to put in a lot of hard #werk and sacrifice. It is not easy, but it is worth it.

How you got to where you are today?

It was completely trusting in God and in myself. I have experienced many failures, in which I have learned from. I have made untraditional decisions that are not typical. I have decided that this is my passion and purpose and it is not for everybody to go with me. When I wanted to support, I had to pay for it and then, it still wasn’t what I needed. People are funny, they see your talents, but don’t want you to succeed because you will surpass them. Those people have diseased energy that needs to be healed. Until they are healed, I have removed them from my path to so I can continue to my destiny. Nonetheless, late nights that become early mornings #werking on my niche.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road. I have survived domestic violence, raised my sons in a city that could care less about them or me. I have had to survive and not live, but yet, I was able to keep my sons safe and have them in optimal environments for their growth. I sacrificed a lot because they had to have better than I did. During this season, I was able to grow in my thought process and really evaluate my future plans would be.

For any woman that reads this, stand firmly in your future, stand firm in your goals, dreams, and desires. These are the visions in your mind that will give you the strength to continue to move. You will not miss anything, everything that is due you will come to you at the appropriate time. Forgive yourself and others that may have hurt you. Write your visions on paper, refer to it often, your future generations are counting on you.

Next, feel free to ask for help. Do not be stubborn and believe that you can do it all, you can’t. Everyone needs help with something. I also suggest tapping into all of the free resources to help you get started with any and everything. Ask questions, send emails, and comment on social media to get the information that you need. Most of all, write your thoughts down, your mind can’t carry everything.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
Barriers to female leadership can be perception and one’s own attitude. Barriers can be your own silence and not understanding that no matter what or who the opposition is, it’s what you do to make the best situation out of it.

Women have often been put down for being emotional, weak, and unknowledgeable, but that women are not. We are our strength. If there is a lack of funding, think about your plan differently and WERK IT! You will succeed because you had the endurance to overcome and the power to think differently. Don’t blame others, I say overlook them and understand their limitations and use that information to your advantage. Your barrier is the door to opportunity.

I say be a woman and do as the big boys do. Submerge your self in learning and researching your goal. Learn strategy and for the love of it all, don’t ask people what they think, remove people from your life that don’t serve your vision, sacrifice a little bit more. If they don’t understand it’s okay, they will see as you grow and it’s okay.

We are nurtures by creation, nurture your life and business for optimal growth, we really don’t get paid enough to nurture other people, think about it.

Opportunity – Create your space if it doesn’t exist. In this society, you can do this! Use every avenue that you have and push your self, someone will hear and see you. Nonetheless, a champion for you to win. You got this!
