Life and Work with Heather Hale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Hale.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Heather. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My mom and I started toying with the idea of starting a business together about three years ago. She has been an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember and I guess she passed the bug on to me. As we were dreaming about what kind of business we could create, we talked about our unique gifts and what holes in the market we saw. My mom (Katherine) has been a student of holistic healing for over 20 years and I have been working as a visual designer for about 12 years. At the time, my two boys were 4 and 6. I always preferred to treat them with natural/alternative methods whenever I could. My cabinet was full of tonics and oils, but the tonics tasted bad and it took work to make sure the oils were diluted and safe for kids. Not to mention the packaging was NOT cute. Ha! So, with my mom’s knowledge of natural remedies and my passion for packaging and marketing, wildflower remedies were born. 🙂

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been relatively smooth and I think that’s mostly because this started as a passion project and so far, neither of us has relied on this for a paycheck. We both have other sources of income that support us, so it sort of takes the pressure off. On the flip side, I feel like this might be the thing that has caused our growth to be slow. There’s nothing wrong with having a little fire under your tush and I think that might be one of our biggest challenges.

Please tell us about Wildflower Remedies.
We specialize in creating natural and alternative remedies that are specially formulated for kids. This includes herbal extract tinctures that can me taken orally, essential oil roll-ons that are applied topically and calming and sanitizing sprays that are safe for kids! The thing that I’m most proud of is that kids LOVE the brand! They love the colorful packaging, they love the taste of the tinctures and it’s so amazing that we can make caring for kiddos less of a fight!

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
I am loving Lacy Phillips podcast Expanded. We also just complete Deepak Chopra’s 21 days of abundance challenge. Our decisions tend to be driven by intuition. Ha! We should probably add someone to the team that could infuse some planning and strategy. As someone who has been a part of the hustle culture for years, it’s been healing for me to move out of this effort = value mindset. We will see where it leads!

Pricing:

  • $12.50 for essential oil roll ons
  • $14 for blended sprays
  • $14.50 for tinctures
