Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennis Hardnett.
Dennis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Dennis, CEO of Musix Geekz Ent. Once I picked up a camera and decided to get behind it instead of in front of it, my life changed. I have always been an entertainer. I can recall days of me performing for my late mother in our living room when I was a little boy. I am originally from East Palo Alto, California. Yayyyy Areeaa. Dancing, turfing, Krump, and going dumb was the culture. Dance was life, from performing with E-40 to doing dance promos for local artist to auditioning for So You Think You Can Dance(I received a golden ticket). At that time, I was known as Pro650, but before that, I was known as Prota-j Yung Spitta. I was a part of a group with two of my siblings; our group name was LND or Live n Direct. We wrote, recorded, and performed all over the US. My main focus was that my talents, hardworking, determination would change my life. It has been my goal to provide a different life for my family and myself. My wife and I traveled all over Houston and many other cities for dance session and talent search tryouts. After 5 years of my wife recording me, I decided to let her teach me the foundation and with the editing skills I had from editing years of dance videos. I began to offer music videos; my first client was my sister. I began to invest and study. Now I am a Videographer & Photographer, and I have an indoor studio. I feel like I am in direct alignment with my purpose, and it’s divine. To break generational curses coming from The Bay Area, taking out trash and washing cars for money to being a CEO of my own business. I represent our community. I know what it’s like to be homeless and be without, and that fuels my fire. I know my mom is looking down and proud.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been rough. I lost my mother, and I was grieving and in a dark place for a while. I have learned to find joy in celebrating her life and making her, myself, my wife, and son proud. Once I found peace, I was able to channel my energy into my business and it succeeding and the legacy I want to leave behind. My company slogan is “Enhancing your visuals while capturing memories that will last a lifetime.” Years from now, people will have my work of them and their love ones on their wall or in a wallet. In the end, I’m just glad to be a part of their memories and happy to have met each one of my clients. I make a lot of meaningful connections, and I exchange energy and creative ideas with anyone around me. “Each one teach one” We all have something unique we add to the world, so we can learn so much from networking and collaboration.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Creating unique art in human form through a lens. Angles, lines shapes, and colors. Lifestyle and Studio photography, music videos, event recaps, weddings, aerial (drone). Focusing on using poses. Each experience is different, but it’s all about client comfortability. The look they want to achieve is priority and communication between the subject and shooter. My wife and I work together to capture shots. We believe that working together allows us an advantage of male and female perspective. Me being a dancer and rapper turned videographer, and photographer is a bonus. I know what artist want to see. I stay on top of what’s trending. We are constantly studying and investing so that once you work with Musix Geekz Ent you want to book again and tell a friend. Another quality that makes us unique is how we brand. We make our own merch, business cards, flyers, stickers, shirts, socks, and more. We are known for being at all the “right” events with all the “right” people. Ranging from celebrity shows, upcoming artist, models, fashion shows, and more.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being alive, providing for my family, doing what I love for a living while uplifting and supporting my community.
