Life & Work with Rebecca Vera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Vera.

Hi Rebecca, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Hi everyone!!! I’m Rebecca Vera mom, wife, Realtor & Wine Expert; nice combination, right? I have been in the Wine Business for almost 18 years, and during all this time, I have had the great opportunity to meet so many amazing people who have definitively been part of this amazing journey. Meeting people, talking to people, selling to people, that is natural in me & love it since I can remember.

Born in Houston, raised in Bolivia where my mom is originally from until I was 19 years old and came back to attend college at University of Houston. Had my first love (daughter) at 21 years old which has been one of the biggest blessings in my life, at 27 my second love & blessing was born. I always called us the 3 musketeers as we did everything together and are always together. I started in the wine industry when I was 24 working for a small wholesale company which was the best teacher to learn about the business. Three years later, I was recruited by one of the largest Wholesale/ Retail Wine & Spirits Companies in Texas, where I worked for 8 years. After that I worked for a distributing company in the Wine business which was amazing and got to learn so many new things which made wiser in the distributing side of the business. In 2019 I decided to take a break and spend more time with my daughters & husband; well me being me, I decided to get my Real Estate License as it was a field that I was always very interested in, so I did it. I have been a realtor for almost 4 years, and it has been an amazing growth and learning experience in such amazing field. I am also back in the wine business since 2021, a big part of me missed it very much, so you might see me around at some of your favorite restaurants talking about wine!!!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth roads in accomplishments are rare; every accomplishment has its bumps in the road and its smooth parts as well. This is what makes it more of a challenge, more of a learning experience, and more of a personal accomplishment. As long as we have a goal, we want to make sure that our strategy is where we focus on the most, keeping in mind that not everything always goes our way but that most of the time there is a solution. In my case, it definitively has been a struggle in some instances as being a single mother for a few years with two kids. working full time and balancing everything. I also must say that not all clients are easy to work with as you meet so many people with all kinds of personalities. How do you manage them? Being professional, patient, understanding, and just using your best judgment. At the end of the day & I am grateful for all the bumps on the road so far and the ones to come, as well as all the smooth parts of my journey so far! 🙂

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I currently have two jobs, so I will start writing about my job in the world of wine. This has been something I have been doing for a very long time now and that I enjoy very much. This is a world where you are constantly learning and meeting so many amazing people besides the fact that I get to eat in some of the best restaurants in town:). I work for a distributor where we have an amazing wine portfolio from different regions in the world, but my main responsibility is to provide all my clients with exceptional customer service, fulfill their wine orders, taste wines with them, plan wine dinners, do staff trainings and just give my best at all times. I get the opportunity to taste wines from all over the world, learn from the winemakers and enjoy everything that comes with being in the wine business.

I have been a realtor for almost four years now, which has been one of the best decisions that I have made. I have been blessed with starting this endeavor and selling six figures in Real Estate in my first year and accomplishing more than I could have imagined. I love helping people find their new home, sell, and simply being a part of such an important milestone. Once again, I am doing something that I really enjoy and that fulfills me, which is helping people. I believe that all of this success has been because of my drive, dedication, honesty, and love for what I do. I must give credit to my family for supporting me and to the people who work next to me to make things happen, from Alisa, my assistant, to all the amazing lenders I work with, the inspectors, and mostly to all my clients who have trusted me.

What are your plans for the future?
My main plan is to get into investing in Real Estate, which I have slowly started already, and really looking forward to making it something big. I am also in the works of organizing a Real Estate Group which purpose will be to recruit new agents and help them grow their business, guide in anything they need and make sure they are formed in order to be very successful.
