Life & Work with Shawn Carreon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Carreon.

Hi Shawn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
For me, the GREATEST factor behind my success is GOD.  If it was not for God, then I wouldn’t be where I am today, I put Him first in everything I do. Carreon Interests LLC is not just a business, it is a brand. There are four businesses under my parent company. The first and longest-running business is the DJ services part – KAOTIKDJS.  It all started when I was a young teenager and love of music. I have been on the radio and worked in several nightclubs throughout the Houston area and it has paved the road for where I am today. I have been fortunate enough to DJ for famous artists, non-profit organizations, corporate events, bars, clubs, schools, political figures, family, and friends.  I can say that I have done a lot and I must admit I have enjoyed each one of the events. Being able to meet people from all over the country and the opportunity to travel because of dj’ing is a truly a blessing. Being humble in this industry is the only way that I continue to have success and that is the best advice I was given and can give. Don’t ever be afraid to be a mentor to someone, share your knowledge…it might change a chapter their book. I strive for my brand to be one that people recognize and know that we are genuine and professional in everything we do.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been an easy road, but you get up and push yourself.  Life has a funny way of throwing obstacles/challenges your way and you must have the mindset of where you are heading with your talent and that is the hardest part.  The ever-changing technology and equipment is tough too but you just have to challenge yourself to learn something new.  Prepare yourself and be ready for the latest and greatest equipment and be patient with the learning curve. This industry is tough, and the competition is there, but always remain humble and genuine with your clients.  Thankfully, I have the best marketing director, Allyson Chapa, that is the backbone to everything from managing contracts to schedules for everyone.  Honestly, she’s a blessing to my team.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What I do is create fun, magical moments.  I have designed a brand for myself and my daughters.  My biggest goal is to leave them a legacy they can be proud of. I have four companies: KaotikDJs which is a full-service DJ/Emcee company composed of a great team of djs, private client advisor, and my marketing director. Second is C Me Photos which is our photobooth company consisting of stationary and 360 booths. Third is Rayne Rentals which is our rental company ranging from dj equipment, sound, lighting, bounce houses, water slides, 20ft projector screens, and so much more. Last is Bella Decor & More, this company is our custom decor and apparel business with shirts, koozies, hats, towels, decals, and more. We are more known for KaotikDJs, being the longest-running business since 1996. I am most proud of the successes of everyone that has ever been a real part of my team. I think what sets me apart from others is that I take a lot of pride in my craft, my team, my equipment, and our professionalism.  From the moment we connect with a client, we are there every step of the way to ensure that their event is exactly as they envisioned.

How do you define success?
Success is being recognized for your hard work and dedication. Success is not measured by the amount of money you have, it’s measured by the experiences you create for people and the lasting impressions. Success is setting goals for yourself and achieving and sometimes surpassing them. Failure is not an option. Success is seeing others you have helped, mentored, or trained become successful on their own paths. Success is thanking God every day for the talents He has provided for you.
