Life & Work with Shernanda Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shernanda Brown.

Hi Shernanda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I can remember I’ve always loved Art, drawing, creating and fashion. I just loved to create. I didn’t really know exactly what I wanted to do but I know I wanted to bring happiness and joy to people with my talents. I grew up as an undocumented immigrant From Trinidad so a lot of those creative dreams were limited. So I went to college for nursing I quickly realized that was not what I wanted to do and I fell back in love with art and Changed my major to Graphic Design! Fast forward to a husband,2 kids and a few years later I was stuck at a job I hated and desperately needed to get out of! Here comes the year 2020 and all of its Covid craziness! I was out of work, stuck at home and going crazy! I needed to find an outlet for my art! I tried a little bit of everything, painted the house, designed and painted cool converse for my kids, we even tried jewelry making but nothing filled that desire I had to create! But thanks to YouTube TikTok, social media and my husband for surprising me with an iPad I taught myself how to create and design epoxy pens and how to use a cricket machine. The possibilities were endless I fell in love again with creating and the joy people would have using my products made everything worthwhile! That’s when Savvy Shenanigans was born! So now I’m 2 years into the business and we’re growing and learning everyday! I absolutely love the reviews and feedback I get from our Savvy Family! It’s crazy how a pen design or a water bottle can bring so much joy and happiness to someone day! It took a while but I definitely found my niche and I’m so glad I’m here!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There were some struggles along the way becoming an entrepreneur is not for the weak😩! Especially when you’re an introvert and forced to be on social media! Lol. It was definitely rough trying to figure out how to reach my audience. All the financial stuff that comes with having a business was definitely tricky but so thankful for my husband he’s my numbers guy 😏.

Being a stay at home entrepreneur mama is hard! Having to figure out how to manage my time with kids, myself, my husband and a small business honestly has been my biggest struggle! I am a lot better with it now but it’s still rough to juggle it all some days.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

What sets us apart from other businesses similar to mine is that we are unique, we really take the time out to go all in and make sure what is created is nothing like the rest! Every item that comes out of our shop is handled With so much love, preparation, and care! It’s important to me to make sure our products express every single customer and their personality to show their uniqueness!

Everyone is different, special, and beautiful in their own way and our products definitely reflect that!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as something that is something your find within yourself! Yes, money is great, money is the motivation but being able to live out your dreams is something beyond that! When your find joy and happiness within yourself and what you do I believe that is honestly true Success.
