Today we’d like to introduce you to Adonis Mitchell.
Adonis, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story started in 2008 when I started speaking on a regular basis. That year I started working with the youth department at Silverlake Church. Over the next couple of years, I was focused on developing and mentoring the teens at the church and local schools in my area. In 2010, I was fortunate enough to be able to create and assist with the young adult program at the same church. My passion for personal development was ignited during this timeframe as I was able to advise and assist others along their own personal journey.
During my time of serving my mother, Candice Kim Cade-Mitchell was diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2012, she underwent aggressive reconstructive surgery as well as chemotherapy and was given a clean bill of health in 2013. Throughout the next couple of years, Candice continued to battle cancer in many different forms, but she persevered and continued to fight. During her treatment, Candice decided to not only share her story but also to inspire others along the way.
After her passing in 2017, we thought it best to establish a foundation in her honor to keep her legacy alive. The CCM Foundation was created not only to honor the legacy of Candice but to continue the great work she started. This non-profit organization has successfully been able to give out scholarships to deserving applicants and has plans to continue assisting others in the future.
Before her passing, my mother suggested that I use the speaking and consultanting talents I had developed over the years and start a business. With the blessing from my wife Brittny Mitchell and mother “Ad Speaks” was born. Ad Speaks is a motivational speaking and consulting company that focuses on personal development and empowerment.
There are four tiers that we focus on when it comes to personal development; one to one, group/couple, team development and corporate connection. This year has been a great year, and there has been an awesome impact that Ad Speaks & The CCM Foundation has been able to make. We are looking forward to impact we will have in the future.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. Along with my journey, I have lost family members, friends and most importantly one of my biggest supporters. When my mother was nearing the end, it was difficult to even go out and speak. Yet no matter what she was going through she would always encourage me to continue the good work that I had begun. Whether it was not getting an approval to speak to a high school team, not being able to implement your program at an after-school program all I could hear was her saying keep pressing.
Ad Speaks & The CCM Foundation – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Personal development is one of my passions, and Ad Speaks allows me to work directly in the area that I am passionate about. My company uses different assessment tools to identify specific personality traits in people. This process is then transitioned into assisting the person, group or company in achieving specific goals. This year I have been able to consult with schools (athletic departments), businesses and people using these assessments.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment so far was being able to award three scholarships to high school applicants.
