Today we’d like to introduce you to Alecia Jones.
Alecia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Well, in undergrad, I studied Criminal Justice & English all while playing Division1 basketball in preparation for going to law school. I’m a graduate of Western Michigan Law School (formerly Thomas M. Cooley). I’m in Texas because I fell in love with the city of Houston while visiting my brother in 2008, made plans to move, passed the bar and now, here I am.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course not, climbing is never smooth. As a solo practitioner, I faced the challenges of finding and securing clients. As a newbie to the city, I faced the challenge of not having a network or support system to get me started in the right direction.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am the Senior Attorney of Jones Legal, PLLC and we specialize in results in each aspect of the family: estate planning and administration, personal injury and of course family law. We’re different because, from the initial consult, we tailor a strategic plan specific to each particular client, in order to best achieve their end goal.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing. The mistakes I’ve made have helped to shape me into who I am today and I haven’t scraped the surface of what God has in store for me. Believe me, the best is surely yet to come.
