Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Kuri and Luisa Banos.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We met as freshmen in college here in Houston. When we graduated we chose different career paths. Luisa went the non-profit route while Alexis decided to take a chance on fashion and moved to Milan. After a series of fortunate events… we decided to become partners and create our own clothing line.
We knew we wanted something that would empower women with a brand that produces apparel consciously and contributes to our community. So without thinking too much about it, we stepped outside our comfort zones and went for it!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As any entrepreneur knows, there is no such thing as smooth sailing. There weren’t any bumps or obstacles as much as curves and turns. We had to understand that not everything that seems perfect in theory is practical for business. However, we managed to find a balance and route that works for us.
Nour de la Garza – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Nour de la Garza is a ready to wear, women’s brand dedicated to creating elegant and bold garments for the working woman. We specialize in pieces that allow your personality to shine through and your adventurous side to have fun. We don’t believe women should have to compromise comfort in order to look great, so we created this line with garments carefully curated to fit comfortably while providing a flattering fit. Our first collection was entirely made in the USA, this was important to us because we wanted to provide opportunities for growth in our own community. More so, creating a product from start to finish has been an incredible experience and we are proud to say that our garments are made in a conscientious and efficient manner.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
As a new company, we are very proud to be where we are today. We took a leap of faith and created a brand knowing there was a need for women who do not want to compromise style for comfort, and we are strong believers that you can have both. Our proudest moments come from seeing these women live their lives in our garments. We created this line for them and it’s what drives us to continue to expand our reach and develop our designs.
