Meet Allen Langford of Athletic Body Mechanics in Southeast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allen Langford.

Allen, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After playing collegiate football at Wisconsin where I was a 2 time All big ten performer, an all-big ten honor student, and team MVP I was afforded a shot at the NFL with the Buffalo Bills. Once I didn’t get retained I decided to immediately go in a different direction and moved to Houston where I could get out of the blistering cold climate. From there I decided I wanted to help athletes get to the highest level possible. As I began training athletes, parents inquired about working out while their kids would train so that really took off and opened up a different door for my company. So ABM has been operating on the southeast side of Houston for about 6 years now and it’s been growing and growing

Has it been a smooth road?
Well, it’s never as smooth as you plan it. I’ve definitely had some trying times but I’m still here so I just thank God for preserving and preparing for the journey. As an owner you feel like you always have so much more to go and you forget sometimes how far you’ve come.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Athletic Body Mechanics – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We specialize in sport specific functional training. Our goal is to make athletes more athletic, decrease the chance of injury, and to promote overall wellbeing. We also have programs where we do group fitness and boot camp classes and those classes are pretty fun. We take your everyday teachers, business enthusiasts, moms, or whoever and we give them a little taste of what we give our athletes. It’s very encouraging our clients really enjoy how different it is from the same routine at your regular gym. I’m most proud of our rapport with our clients who have been with us since the beginning. In a time where there is a new workout regimen or new thing every week, it really speaks volumes of how well our program continues to grow and evolve. I believe the experience that myself and all my trainers have with being professional athletes really give us an edge with training everyone. As a professional athlete you really have a sincere appreciation of the holistic part of the body.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Coming from a cold climate, I absolutely love the weather here. I love how diverse Houston is and how there’s so much to do, from going to Galveston to going all the way up north to the woodlands it’s very beautiful. I have a love hate relationship with how much good food is here in Houston. I would say that the least thing I like as someone who is in the business of fitness.
