Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Henderson.
Alyssa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
This journey all started out well before I ever picked up a camera, and was the photographer behind it. I modeled for years before I ever thought about picking up the camera and putting it to use. I have always loved taking pictures and finding the emotion to bring out from that moment forever frozen.
Years went by before I picked up a camera as a professional, and this time it was a whole new love which had developed. I craved warm rich tones, and emotion and the beauty in the smallest thing. This craving lead to a deeper want to learn, and more of a drive to continually push myself. My goal was to help people see themselves as the beautiful soul that see, and finally, help them love and believe it!
I pushed myself out of my own comfort zones and jumped 2 feet into every bit of it without fear, and I am so grateful for it today. I tried just about every style of photography until I found my niche, which at the point I dug in, and never have turned back!
I truly give all the glory to God, for allowing me to meet such amazing people on my journey, and the doors that have opened for me. I couldn’t have made it to where I am now without God, my amazingly supportive husband always encouraging me to go even further, family, and friends.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Honestly, anything that has a smooth road, isn’t worth trekking down. There has been easier times than others, and some more rough, but all in all it has been a beautiful wild journey.
I created this whirlwind of mine solely on a dream, hard work, and a little blood, sweat and tears! Each and every bit of it was completely worth it, especially looking back and seeing the growth! Struggling can do one of two things, it can break you, or make you work harder for what you want. I chose the latter.
This has been such an amazing journey, blessing road, whatever you’d like to call it, and I encourage anyone who fears the struggle to remember that this is where you’ll define yourself, let what you love to drive you, and don’t look back.
Alayne Wade Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I currently specialize in Maternity and lifestyle portraiture, although I have a passion for all forms of photography. My maternity work is unique and packed full of beauty and emotion. I guide my client every step of the way in choosing a dreamy wardrobe for herself and family, to posing and drawing out the real raw emotions.
I’ve created smiles, those good belly laughs, evoked love, and even have had some tears, but nonetheless its all memories that are forever in this very moment, and ones that are continually cherished, even years to come. I pour my heart and soul into my Maternity work, as I truly want every Mama to walk away from it feeling so beautiful, powerful and simply amazing. Her body is beautiful, her spirit is alive, she is joyous and she is a Mother.
This is what I live for. I have such a huge passion for working with children, which comes naturally for me being a mother. I enjoy watching them play, and be authentically who they are! When I get the opportunity to work with children, its all full of smiles, playtime and laughter. I find what they love and we exist at that moment with them.
I ensure the parents to let their babies be themselves then later blow them away with the realness and rawness of their joy captured in the images I present them. I am widely known for my Equine series “A girl & her horse series”. Showcasing the beautiful love and art shared between the girl and her horse. These are unique and timeless images.
My proudest moment is when I was asked to work our county fair and their photographer. I grew up showing in this same fair, where a love for this industry was instilled in me. I now get to watch my daughter, and many other children participate and learn as I did. Photographing it allows me to be just as close to showing as I can get. I was honored to be able to give back to an event that taught me so much.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is truly falling in love with what I get to do on a daily basis. Knowing that I can provide someone with a memory that is everlasting and can evoke the same emotion at that moment is success to me.
Its defined as capturing the small imperfections of the moment. The quickness of a newborns smile. The first scream of a brand new baby. Tears of my clients as they realize just HOW BEAUTIFUL they are when they see their maternity images.
My clients define my success. The happiness they provide me with every day. Getting to love what I do, impact and touch other peoples lives as well as making new friendships and share the word of God, is success in my book.
