Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Szymanski.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
For as long as I remember, I have loved photography. I loved being in pictures, and also taking them. I’ve always wanted something to look back on, remember the story no matter what it was. Like many moms, once I had kids, I wanted to freeze time, capture those memories so I could cherish them forever. My husband bought me my very first camera for Christmas in 2013, the year our son was born. I started taking pictures, and the rest is history. Since then, I’ve had the drive to be my very best, learn everything I can about the art of photography. This will be my third year in business. I absolutely love capturing memories for families. I love chasing around kids and seeing this big world through their eyes.
Please tell us about your art.
My main focus on young families and children. I want to create for them, what I want for my family. Memories and keepsakes that I can look back on for many years to come. My sessions are about having fun, laughing with each other, hugging and kissing, just being YOU in that very moment. So many people (me included) are afraid to age, afraid to see their “mom bod” in front of the camera. I assure you, your kids don’t see that. They want to see their whole family in photos, not just them. They want to see love and laughter. That is my goal for each and every session I have.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
This is a very interesting question. I’ve recently done some mentoring with Sally Kate Photography. Looking back at the art movements from the past, each one seems to be a response to the art movement before it. It also seems that history keeps repeating itself, even with Art and photography. “Realism” is a huge trend in photography right now. I definitely think that what is happening in the world has huge effects on these trends.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
