Amy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started the business in 2009. At that time, I was a stay-at-home mom with 3 daughters.
My oldest daughter had special needs, so our family knew the challenges of finding quality childcare and having someone be able to watch all three of our girls. We were always so anxious in trying out new sitters, wondering if she would be engaging with our children and an overall safe sitter.
I researched several businesses and came across SeekingSitters. It seemed like a perfect fit, since I could work from home and be available for my daughters…which was the most important thing. I also really liked the idea of helping other families locally to have access to safe, reliable childcare as well. SeekingSitters was founded by a private investigator and the premise of the company is building the safest sitting community for families nationwide, as well. This means all of our sitters are CPR/FA certified and have been thoroughly background screened.
We currently service over 300 families, assist with church nursery needs and also provide childcare at wedding receptions. It has certainly grown over the past 8 years, as there is always a need for safe and reliable childcare!
Has it been a smooth road?
When I first started out, it wasn’t easy…not at all! Our franchise system provided wonderful and helpful training, but starting your own business is nerve-wracking.
The biggest challenge was explaining what SeekingSitters does. This is a unique business, and the only one of it’s kind here in Houston. We are not a nanny service, but rather an on-demand babysitting service.

SeekingSitters Houston North is an on-demand babysitting service. We provide childcare for families, churches, hotels and special events.
Each of our sitters has undergone an extensive background screening, has 2+ years of childcare experience and is CPR/FA certified. We have in-house private investigators who dig deeper than traditional background checks.
We want the families informed of the importance of a thorough background investigation, and to have that anxiety alleviated that there is a screened babysitter coming to your home to take care of your children. There is nothing more precious than your children, and we make it our #1 priority to build a safe, sitting community for your family.
