Meet Angel Jimenez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Jimenez.

Angel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m an upcoming mariachi artist from Kingsville Tx. I am a Vocal Music Education Major at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. I have been singing since I was 8 years old. I am very much inspired by my late father, Abel “El Charro” Jimenez. I recently was on EstrellaTV’s “Tengo Talento Mucho Talento” and came out as a semifinalist. I just released my first mariachi single(Tu Pagaras) back in August 2022 with SunshineMusicEnterprises from San Antonio Tx. I have a long way to go but I’m ready. Now I am working on more music and getting myself out there in the industry.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’d be lying if I said being a musician is easy. There has been many bumps in the road for me, but I’m grateful for it all. All those rough times only made me stronger and want to work harder.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am Mariachi singer. I do love to sing many other genres and hope to branch out in the future. One of the things I’m proud of so far in my journey is being a Semifinalist on TTMT. I think the way I carry myself and perform is what sets me apart from others. I also believe that in this industry we’re all unique & different in our own way. And it makes me happy to see others living out their dreams.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory would be when I would sing for my neighbors in my front yard. My mom and uncle would be sitting on the porch, and I’d be on the bottom with my radio singing and dancing. I remember my neighbors would come out and say, “is she gonna sing?” And my uncle would say yes. Then they’d pull out their lawn chairs and listen to me.
