Meet Angel Martinez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Martinez.

Angel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well, I’ve always have had to work for my own things. Not trying to make this a sob story but my family isn’t the richest and well I’ve never really got along well with my dad. So I’ve always had to work with my uncles to get a little paycheck when I was younger to buy my own video games and little clothes and shoes I wanted here and there. Highschool I had to quit the baseball team for the same reason that I needed money and wasn’t gonna rely on my parents for it. All Highschool I’ve worked in fast food places until I graduated I started working at this warehouse owned by Cummins. Worked as a temp agent up until 5 months when I got hired officially. 3 months later got bumped up to team leader and started noticing the shady stuff they were doing and I wanted more money for the slack I had to pick up the cause of management. They refused so I started looking elsewhere. Came across a guy who worked for a local union. Waited for the year to start over to use my vacation days so I can go test to get into the Union. Got the call in April that they had a job for me so I took it. Started as a pipe fitter for about 3 months then I had to help an HVAC tech and I helped him out for about 6 months and I fell in love with HVAC work and he was telling me how he started off as pipefitter but discovered he was too smart for that so he convinced me to switch over and so did the supervisor for pipefitters. He said I had a better future as a technician. Did that for about a year and a half and fell off with the company cause they didn’t want me to get a company truck even though I was always driving around and doing journeyman work since there weren’t any more journey men since they all left the company for a reason as well that they fell off due to management.

I left in August and looked to get into sales so I tried to get into car sales. Applied at many places and they all turned me down due to me not having any experience with sales. Finally applied at this one place and kind of got discouraged for the reason I thought I wasn’t going to get the job. Showed up the manager was nice and was asking me questions, she was really in need of a bilingual salesperson so that was a big bonus for me. Throughout the months, I worked there she taught me a whole lot of what I’m applying to my current position which is Real estate. Got let go in February of 2021 due to me not wanting to go in on a Sunday cause it was my son’s bday. I value my family over a job since time with them isn’t replaceable and a job is. Got brought on board to Keller Williams and it’s been going great. Constantly learning from my coach and the amazing people at my brokerage.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not really. In real estate, the rough obstacles was getting someone to take the chance on me and say I want you as my agent. A lot of folks don’t want to work with new agents. But all it takes is for one person to believe in you and say I’ll let you take it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well, currently I’m a real estate agent. I’m the person who basically guides folks along the way of purchasing a house. I make sure they’re all set to make the purchase and then we began the house search, once we find a home, we go through the home buying process and I advise them along the way of it. I don’t think I’m known for anything honestly. I also do some YouTube on the side. I am trying to grow that. I look up to Mr. Beast and David Dobrik and would like to give back to folks when I have the funds to do so. I’m proud of where I am in life, to be honest. I’ve been through a lot and honestly, I’m proud I kept my head up through it all. What sets me apart from others is not only do I love my family but I love helping others. That’s why I’m a real estate agent. I want to help folks get their house they can call home.

What’s next?
Well for the future of course I would like to be a top producing mega agent. Eventually, get into luxury real estate, you know make the big bucks but also help the folks who make the big bucks. Cause believe it or not they’re the same people as regular folks, only thing is they got more digits in the bank. Also for my YouTube, I would definitely like for it to grow. That’s why I’ve been doing interviews with local small businesses to help each other grow. Would also like to do some giveaways to give back.
