Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Beltran.
Angela, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was answering phones at a car dealership 11 years ago when I heard on the radio there was this contest called “La Voz de Neta” I always wanted to be a Radio Host, have my own talk show and I knew this was my chance, so I went to audition to Liberman Broadcasting where they had this station called “El Norte” I believe most likely they were looking for a male voice maybe someone with a little bit of experience, obviously I had none, but I got the job, and I’m proud to say it wasn’t because of a pretty face or body, it was because God gifted me to touch peoples lives in so many ways through my voice, there was a lot of talented people on the competition, and it lasted for about a month with different challenges, at the time I was unemployed and before that I went to apply at different jobs, so can you imagen? While waiting for the final result, I was receiving calls from those jobs I applied, offering me “the job interview” I was going crazy, thinking, “What about if I turn down these job opportunities and I end up not winning the contest either? They way they let us know who the winner was it was by saying their name on air. You didn’t know when, all you had to do was to be listening all day to find out, so I had a radio on in each room of the house, haha! And then, there it was, “My name” I cried, jump, run, scream, it was certainly one of the best days in my life.
Then I moved from Dallas TX to Houston about four years ago, same years, I had the amazing chance to work for one of the greatest companies “Univision” This is how I got here!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been worth it, I’m thankful even for the struggles I went through on this career, that made me stronger and I certainly didn’t want the road to be easy, I knew that to get better, I had to grow, to learn, to push myself.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m evolving like the world, and I was already before all this, working on having my own Advertising Agency, I can create a project, been in it, produce it, promote it, so I am my own boss now and I love it. I know how hard is for business to get back on their feet at this time, so I’m trying to help them by offering them affordable advertising on my social media accounts, I have almost one million followers between my Facebook and Instagram and I like to think they know me for being authentic and true to my self, I will not sell them the idea of something I know is not going to benefit them just that I can get pay for promoting it!
I’m proud of the way I had always chosen to do things, without sacrificing my own values and beliefs, I never care for them to know me or like me for the girl with likes on her pictures because of how much she is showing or what she is wearing, but because of someone who really knows what she is doing and was born for this, I don’t believe I’m better than anybody else and don’t know if there is something in specific that sets me apart from others, all I can say is that I consider my self as a very creative soul and that definitely like to think makes me unique and special.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I had achieved great things that I’m very proud, but one of them happened here in Houston two years ago when I received the award of “HAHMP Houston’s Best Radio Personality” I felt so blessed because I was nominated with so many talented people I admire.
