Meet Angela Trujillo of The Avenue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Trujillo.

Angela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my Christian blog, The Avenue at the end of December last year. I always knew I loved to write but I never thought I could be capable of making something out of it. It was in February of last year, 2019, that I started to embark on the journey of becoming a published author. After several days of researching and submitting my manuscript, I signed with Halo Publishing and set out to make my dreams come true. I released my first Christian children’s book, Elizabeth Gets Healed, on October 14th. After months of hard work, I knew this wouldn’t be my last writing project. I have found something I truly love and the perfect outlet to display all that God has done in my life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
That’s tough, Yes and No! Through the whole process of publishing my book, I felt a lot of peace. It definitely taught me how to manage my time better, have discipline, and confidence that this is what I was called to do. But there were days when choosing to work on my book instead of being out with friends was hard. It took up majority of my time aside from working a full-time job. But I made it work. God continuously put the right people in my path and opened up so many doors for me throughout the whole time. I knew his hand was over this book and there was nothing going to stop me from making it happen. I think the biggest obstacle was myself. I had to continuously remind myself that Jesus didn’t bring me this far to watch me fail. And I would see it to completion!

The Avenue – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Avenue is a Christian faith-based blog, where I am able to talk about things God has put on my heart to share. Every Monday, I will post a new blog and share the topic of the week or month. It has also become my platform for my book, and books to come. Through purchasing my book, Elizabeth Gets Healed, 100 percent of the proceeds are going towards the construction of a school outside of Port-au- Prince, Haiti. I have had the amazing opportunity to partner with a Haitian family to start building, The School of Promise. Our heart behind the building is to have a school that will offer opportunities for children to get sponsored to receive an education. After going on my 5th trip to Haiti, I felt a huge tug on my heart to do something to help their education. I believe Haiti is in the state it is because of a lack of education received in this nation. My hope is that as I continue to write more books, I will be able to help change this need in Haiti.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have felt very proud of myself for becoming a published author, being Halo Publishing’s Best Selling Author for the month of December and January. Having a book signing at Barnes and Noble, where I sold out of books within two hours. And two months after releasing my first book, becoming a Christian blogger. But what I’ve felt most proud of is that all of this is not for me but to seek change for a nation. And being able to use my passion for writing to help support kids in a third world country to receive an education is truly the greatest joy.
