Meet Anthony Guzman of PopStyleAnt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Guzman.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My parents got divorced at a young age of mine, and the effect of it still impacts me mentally to this day. My mom then turned to drugs to cope with her pain. I spent long nights crying after witnessing my mom being passed out from what she had taken. I took a big brother role on very early, often having to look after my younger sister when my mother was unresponsive. She was deemed misfit to look after us, I was then forced to live with my dad in a two bedroom apartment with six people.

Around the same time this was happening two of my six-month-old siblings had passed, as well as we were not in a great financial situation. I started writing music in 4th grade and used to get in trouble for writing during class as well. Music was my escape and was one of my very few ways to express myself when in emotional distress. At the age of 16, me and a friend of mine (E.O.T) started rapping during our auto tech class. He improved my confidence and actually was the one to push me into recording. We then invested $30 into some music equipment and started recording from his closet.

At the age of 17, I was kicked out from my parents because I had got my girlfriend pregnant. I had no other choice but to move in with her and her parents. No later than nine weeks, me and my girlfriend then lost our baby. Putting a toll on us both emotionally. After having a near-death miscarriage and surgery with my spouse, my mother was then placed in the ICU for two weeks under critical condition around the same time.

A few months later, a close aunt of mine Aunt had been declared brain dead. After losing so much and experiencing so much at a young age, it has given me a lot of music to write and stories to tell. Going through a rollercoaster love life has been able to show me the light of day as well as the darkness. I am able to see situations in different ways, and I think I can connect to a lot of people and help them with whatever situation they are going through.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I never had the best of life, but never the worst either. Some of the struggles I felt with was my mom going to jail and having to go live with my aunt for a few months at a time. My mom’s drug abuse forced me to live with my dad. My sibling’s death put a huge toll on me growing up. After leaving home, I had to grow up very quickly and actually got to understand life isn’t bliss how it is in movies.  I for sure have had my fair share of ups and downs.

PopStyleAnt – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in making music that many people can enjoy. I’m known for being able to be very versatile, and an artist that can send a great message and word of advice. I’m most proud of myself for being able to overcome adversity and help others who are going through the same thing.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I reached over 40 countries, received 1k fans, and 18k streams on Spotify in this previous year.
