So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The basis of the company began as a “house hack” in 2012 — I purchased property to live in that also included separate living quarters for additional rental income. In 2015, I purchased and rehabbed my first stand-alone rental property and have been buying, renovating and selling properties since.
My father was a Carpenter and Contractor; I learned everything I know about property rehab and entrepreneurship from him.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Though immensely gratifying, operating Vitality Properties has not come without its share of challenges. The three largest obstacles to overcome have been putting together a synergistic team — lenders, brokers, agents, tradespersons, wholesalers and vendors, implementing processes to and making a concerted effort to extricate myself from some of the day-to-day operational and tactical components of business ownership, and finding great acquisition opportunities — those that improve the communities I’m beholden to and align with company objectives.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We’re currently working toward increasing the company’s footprint and scale — the goal is to have three to five simultaneous projects with just as many in the pipeline. We’re also looking to increase our rental portfolio through the acquisition of a multifamily property.
