Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Cardenas.
Antonio, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Photography is something that I got into during 6th grade. This was when I first started knowing about Instagram and that’s what inspired me to capture photos of places and people. On Instagram, I saw many peoples feed and many unique pictures they had so during 7th grade, I got my first actual phone which was an iPhone 5c. With that phone, I started taking all my pictures through Snapchat and the regular camera. From that day, I knew what I wanted to be was to capture people’s favorite moments and my favorite moments through a lens. During late November around Black Friday, I got my first DSLR camera and from that day forward, I met many people and explored new places around my city. With me loving photography, I have now set realistic goals and would love to learn more of what I do and learn from my mistakes. and travel different areas of the world to take pictures of places I always wanted to visit.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It will never become a smooth road on things you try to do or achieve. There will always be bumps in life that you will hit and you may not like it but that is how life is. Some of the struggles along the way was not having all the equipment that I really needed but what I learned was that it doesn’t matter what you have on you, it depends on how you use it, learn and grow from it, because some people grew up with nothing and later on they worked hard for it and now they have the things they wanted and some people grew up with everything so now they don’t have to worry about it and those are just people that are blessed with it.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Toniotakespictures story. Tell us more about the business.
Something about my business that I do and specialize in is that I want to make people happy with the pictures I take of them if it’s just by themselves or with a couple or a group friends because one thing I love about my job is getting good feedback from my work even though I may not be a professional or I may not be the best at what I do but at least I try on the things I do and take my time doing it. Not everyone may have the same camera, computer, or equipment so that’s why you make the best out of it and enjoy what you do because one day it will all be worth it. I am known for taking pictures for almost all my friends in school that I really get along with.
The thing I’m most proud of is photography is something that will always stick with me for the rest of my life and one day I’m going to look back at my pictures and how much my pictures, editing, and equipment has changed and the progress I failed in and succeeded in. Something that sets me apart from others is that I can care less what people say about my pictures if they are good or not but is not what they like but is what I like and love to do because everyone has their own style of taking pictures and I respect that for everyone because they are at least trying to make something out of themselves.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The role that luck has played in my life was at least having a family that is stable and we don’t live in a bad area, but I don’t see this is good luck I see this as being blessed, because where I am right now I don’t think I would ever meet all this people I met today and I don’t think I would’ve ever owned a camera and met people that are into photography like I am. I don’t really see things as bad luck because I believe everything happens for a reason. But one role that bad luck has played in my life was always losing my camera in different places and being irresponsible but throughout time, I learned to be more responsible about it and taking care of it more often.
