Today we’d like to introduce you to Audreyanna and Chanteau Garrett.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a free-spirited, business mind and my sister, Chanteau, is a fashion/wardrobe stylist & model, are Houston native siblings who merged their knowledge of business & fashion to create you EYE DARE YOU! We have both been involved in various roles building brands for others, but since we’d always done things together, and historically have been involved with my mother’s businesses since we were teenagers, it was only right that we developed a brand we could call our own.
We launched Eye Dare You in 2015 with the intent to provide fashion-forward individuals a better selection of affordable high fashion eyewear. We figured the name Eye Dare You would be appropriate because it encompasses both of our styles, mine more quirky and daring, and Chanteau’s more high end and trendy, We are in the process of manufacturing our own styles, which of course would be a mash-up.
Due to Chanteau’s client base and connections established over the years, our shades have been seen on the faces of Erica Campbell, Angela Simmon’s Stylist Kanayo Eboni, The Goo Goo Atkins and other fashion influencers throughout the U.S., as well as featured on the runway at the 2015 BET Experience Fashion show and in episodes on WEtv. We’ve been positively recognized for our service and product quality and we are grateful.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road for us, especially because we are siblings and very strong-willed individuals. We both had to learn our individual roles and agree to not challenge one another’s decision when unnecessary. There is a lot of trust that goes into partnerships and we definitely had to learn to rely on that trust in certain business matters.
Creating and building an eyewear brand that will one day house your own designs is very challenging and expensive. Countless hours go into making sure the designs are unique and can be manufactured flawlessly.
Business for us also has it’s ups and downs, but we are very thankful for our loyal customers who continue to support us time and time again.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Eye Dare You story. Tell us more about the business.
The Eye Dare You mission is to create and supply unique, high fashion and affordable eye-ware, bridging the gap between “high fashion” and “affordable”, without compromising quality.
Eye Dare You is known for supplying quality, high fashion shades for reasonable prices.
As a company, we are very proud and impressed that Eye Dare You is getting traction in many markets (primarily east and west coast) that’s already very heavily saturated with eye ware retailers. We set ourselves apart from this because we decided not to make our customers choose between cost efficiency and quality. We made sure to give our customers both. We’ve all been in a place where money was tight but we still wanted to maintain confidence through our look. And a good sale is when we feel we’ve gotten the best value for our dollar. That’s ultimately what we want our customers to feel every time they make a purchase.
Eye Dare You is also very proud of our brand ambassador, Dalia Drake. Currently based out of New York, Dalia is a stylist and model who supports and believes in our brand just as much as we do! And we are very thankful for her, drive and support. Dalia has been featured in Vogue and other top tier magazines providing positive exposure for Eye Dare You!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We can’t say that luck has played any role in our business or lives up to this point. We’ve always had to create our own opportunities and fight for the outcomes that we deserve. That’s not to say that maybe we won’t get lucky later on, but as of now, we are putting in the work to get the results we desire.
