Today we’d like to introduce you to Ayana Robinson.
Hi Ayana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In May 2021, after graduating from Lamar University with my undergraduate degree, I always knew I wanted to be a business owner. I have always had innovative ideas and trying to bring a vision to life. Growing up, I will be alongside my mom helping create homecoming mums and making decorations for family/friends’ gatherings. For many years I knew I had the talent of creativity and planning for celebrations but during my downtime after graduating, everyday you would find me applying on LinkedIn for full-time job offers in my career and constantly getting denied. Being denied only gave me the extra push to continue to apply and find what was best for me. I’ve known I did not want to work a 9-5 throughout my entire professional career. But during the time that I do I would like to elevate myself and gain the knowledge needed to be successful business women. At that moment, it was time get back and start decorating events and really do what I enjoy. Throughout the years, I knew the industry was expanding and decorations/balloons become more of the main eye to an event. With my passion for decorating, I wanted to expand and grow with balloons and create different masterpieces. After much practice, In September 2021, my desire was to create the birth of Bloss Event Designs. I wanted to start using my creative eye and wanted to use my craft in a positive way through luxury balloon designs. I enjoy having a good time and with Bloss, I can use my bubbly personality and interreact with clientele to bring a smile to their face. I am blessed of how far we have come within the past months, but I am more excited about what God has in store for Bloss in the future.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Many entrepreneurs face obstacles/challenges but I view them as life lessons. Consistency is key and at times, it is challenging juggling multiple jobs while trying to expand my business. Throughout my journey, we have had a few challenges with marketing techniques to reach more clientele. Things can become overwhelming/challenging trying to complete all your task but it is important that you take care of your health and prioritize your time. With being an entrepreneur, you do take bumps on the road and gain knowledge and skills along the way to help you succeed. Being a balloon decorator, there is always a demand year-round when it comes to events/celebrations but there tend to be obstacles if another world shut down was to happen again or something that will impact the industry. You’ll have times of discouragement, but you have to remind yourself of the vision.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Bloss Event Designs originated from the word blossom. The meaning is deeply rooted with the founder, Ayana Robinson. The name Ayana derived from the African word meaning “beautiful flower.” We specialize in balloon garlands, balloon hoops, balloon walls, balloon columns, balloon mosaic number/letters, grass walls, and much more. Our mission is to create an experience for you to remember and cherish for a lifetime. We take pride in our work adding beautiful touches to your venue and create superior quality service in our community.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Invest in your business! There is always a starting point to becoming successful. Try new things and find your audience. You will make mistakes to find what best works for you. Take that extra leap of faith and come out of your comfort zone. When you are in uncomfortable situations, that is the development process of growth. There will be many lessons you learn that will help you generate new ideas. Stay true to your vision and know your worth. I encourage fellow entrepreneurs to find their niche, something that they enjoy doing and not just the next big thing. Perfect your craft on your downtime. The key factor is always network when you have the opportunity and ask as many questions needed. The minute you feel discouraged, don’t let it affect you but let it drive you. Overall, always build from your business plan and always know you can do it if you put your mind to it.
