Meet Ayisha Anifowoshe of WhatAyishaEats in Greenway Plaza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ayisha Anifowoshe.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ayisha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been a foodie for as long as I can remember. You may contribute that obsession to the fact that I am bicultural (half Nigerian and half black American) so I’ve been exposed to many different kinds of foods. Although only 18, I know a lot about food, especially eating it! I started off by posting food only on an Instagram highlights story and on my snapchat story. A lot of people started asking me about the foods I posted, and some would say like I’m always eating good. I’ve always been around food. I grew up baking cornbread for family dinners to baking cookies and selling them to friends. I even started my cookie business called Ayisha’s cookies about a year ago. WhatAyishaEats was created on June 27th, 2019 and took off from there. I noticed there weren’t many teens with a food blog that I knew of, so I decided to start one. I love food and writing so I decided to put them together. I enjoy writing food reviews because it allows me to express my thoughts and feelings about foods. Houston’s food scene is so diverse and versatile, it amazes me. I want to share my love and passion for food with other foodies out there.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes, it has been a smooth road and very exciting! I’m very passionate about my food blog and it means everything to me. I’m growing followers at a good rate, reached 1K in 6 months. I even got invited out to a food truck festival. Also, I’ve done two giveaways on my page so far. I’ve received a lot of support from my friends, family, and followers who encourage me to put out my best work/reviews. I thank god for blessing me with this opportunity.

WhatAyishaEats – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a teenage Houston food blogger who started WhatAyishaEats, and I write honest food reviews about the different foods I try. I am a firm believer in phone eats first, and love to capture the beauty and essence of food through a camera. I endeavor to find new places for individuals who haven’t discovered them yet. What sets me apart from others is my drive and motivation on succeeding. I also write lengthy reviews about the restaurants I check out.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career so far has been the fact that I am helping restaurants attract more business and helping people find out about new foods to eat. It makes me so happy when someone tells me that they tried a certain food because of my reviews, and ended up enjoying it. Also, when people compliment me and say they love my food blog, I get the biggest smile on my face, pure joy.
