Today we’d like to introduce you to Benjamin Medina.
Hi Benjamin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started developing as an artist at a very young age. Growing up with limited resources allowed my mind the skill to balance my art with what I did have access to. Design is such a universal idea to apply to anything you want to create. I make sure if there’s something I feel like creating, I’m not afraid to dive in with only my taste and the skill level I possess in whatever I’m trying. This year I will be presenting my first-ever FW collection at LUCKTOBERFEST in Austin, Texas, alongside incredible talents!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Creating any type of artistic medium is so parallel to our identity that it comes inevitably with a road of self-reflection. For me, this was my biggest obstacle, and is sometimes a challenge still today. I focus on understanding my pieces not as a reflection of myself, but who I am at that moment. This idea helps me to remember that not everything needs to be taken so seriously.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a fashion designer specializing in 1 of 1 fashion. I’m most proud of the talented music artists who trust me with their artist campaign projects. To be involved and to contribute to a music artist’s evolution is very humbling and fulfilling.
What does success mean to you?
Success is peace and happiness. The less of a box I put myself in imaging my future, the more free I feel to grow in any direction I want & give myself permission to change and opinion I have.
