Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Walker.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio; but was born in Fort Hood, Texas. I moved back to the great state of Texas to reside in Houston seven years ago this April. I relocated to Houston due to the vast career opportunities, and the appealing cultural diversity. My love for helping people persuaded me to pursue a career in nursing. I graduated from Berea College (Berea, Kentucky) and started my career in Maternal- Child Health. I later decided to complete my studies at the University of Cincinnati; in Women’s Health. After 12 years of maternal-child health nursing and 9 years of community women’s health as a Nurse Practitioner my passion for women evolved into the world of aesthetics. I am an advocate for women to feel and look their personal best. My experience in women’s health and magnetic interest in the world of aesthetics; led to the launch of The Better Body Shop in September 2019. After years of training to focus on the health and well being of women, I wanted to extend my skill set to the enhancing of health and wellness from the inside out. Every women and man deserves to look as good as they feel.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a working mom of two toddlers (1&3 years old); the road has been everything but smooth. Wearing the hats of career woman, mom, and now entrepreneur, the road had its fair share of bumps along the way. The biggest challenge has been “TIME”. There is never enough time, time for marketing, continual growth with branding; even the logistical roll out to launch the company, required time equivalent to the care of a newborn. Without the help of my amazing operations team, The Better Body Shop would not be what it is and continues to be today. What keeps me going is this is that the race is not given to the swift, nor to the strong, but unto the one that endures until the end. Although the road was rough, it is my goal to endure.

We specialize in cutting-edge, personalized total body transformation. Our treatment team is composed of our Body Contouring Specialist; who is also a Licensed Board-Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, along with our Licensed Registered Dietitian/ Certified Diabetic Educator and support staff; ready to help customize your treatment plan. We are committed to empowering you to look as good as you feel.
Our ultimate vision is to expand our services to include additional aesthetic procedures and offer gynecologic care in the near future.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Passion, innovation, endurance, and faith are so essential in the success of The Better Body Shop. Passion; without a driving force which is our love for people and special appreciation for the whole woman I wouldn’t have the desire for innovation. Innovation motivates me to seek new and specialized services to make women feel good, body, mind, and soul. Endurance is imperative because in life there are challenges in growing a company and working to literally make a dream turn into reality, will take time, dedication, and resources. As much as I want to sap my fingers and have everything magically unfold just as I see it in my head, it will take work and endurance. Having faith that I will have, what I say I will have; and that no matter what it takes, I never give up on my vision and never stop reaching for my dreams; I am a firm believer that faith without works is dead.
