Meet Brad Crosby of Humble Camera Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Crosby.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brad. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Humble Camera Center first opened our doors in October of 1995, we started out as a small camera shop selling and repairing cameras. Within a couple of years we started offering print services for our customers, since then we have grown to offer a large variety of photography equipment to cater to every level of photography whether you may be a beginner, an advanced or a professional photographer.

Our store now offers rental equipment as well as sales and repair. We can print on many surfaces such as paper, canvas, metal, wood or acrylic in all standard sizes as well as custom sizes. We offer custom framing and have framed just about anything you could imagine over the years. Our goal is to make photography fun and affordable for everyone and to know that our customers leave with a smile.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When digital cameras came out in early 2000 it was somewhat of a game changer for us as we knew that eventually the market would shift causing everyone to swap over from film cameras to the new digital cameras. It actually took longer than expected for the early digital cameras to catch on due to the low image quality. However, through the years they were becoming better quality.

Once the quality and the price were competitive to the film cameras the shift happened. In 2005 almost everyone swapped from film to digital and printing services took a big hit as everyone simply stored their images on the memory card inside the camera and didn’t have to get it printed to see what they captured. We have learned to adapt to the changes in our industry and I believe that is how we have been able to keep our doors open as we have seen many camera stores come and go over the years.

Humble Camera Center – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We sell, repair and rent photographic equipment such as cameras, lenses, flashes and accessories including a large selection of studio lighting, back grounds and everything you need to take a photograph.

We are known as the place to come for repairs as our turnaround time and expertise is unmatched. We are also known for our customer service as we always go the extra mile to ensure that we have exceeded the customers’ expectations.

We offer in house film developing for those who are still shooting film cameras. I believe that we are most proud of our knowledge and willingness to help in any way we can.

We are the only camera store in the Houston area that offers a full service selection of all your photography needs. A true one stop shopping experience.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment in my career was when I actually purchased the business after managing it for many years.

    Brad,
Congratulations on now being the owner of Humble Camera. I haven’t been in to see you in a while but look for me sometime in the near future….my son, Chase is getting married in September and you know where I’ll be coming for enlargements!

I have been a customer of Humble Camera for many years. Brad was the only one that would repair my old 35mm cameras, even when parts got scarce. He would even let me bring in my old broken camera and use it for parts to fix the better one. He also was very helpful in educating me in choosing which DSLR to make the transition from film. I could go on for days writing about the above and beyond customer service that they offer.
