Today we’d like to introduce you to Bradley Weber.
Bradley, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started working on cars when I was 14 years old. As a young adult I continued to work as a professional mechanic for independent shops for about 15 years. Eventually, I wanted to try something new and moved my new family from Dallas to Houston to start a new job for an insulation company as a fleet mechanic for all of their high tech equipment and extensive fleet of trucks large and small. After about four years the bottom fell out of the housing market and I was laid off. I had just purchased a new truck and had no way to pay for it or the bills. I could have went back to work in the shops of old but it seemed as though they had adopted a new way of structuring how technicians were paid and it didn’t favor the technician or the customer for that matter. While I was pondering my fate my wife said, “Why don’t you start your own company…Your an awesome mechanic and you have been fixing everybody and their mothers vehicles for years. Why not load up all your tools in your new truck and go fix cars!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
After high school, I enrolled at the Graphic Art Institute in Dallas. I got a degree in Graphic illustration/Commercial Advertising. I found out quickly that a high rise office job did not fit my personality. At all. What it did do was to allow me to create my own website and advertising materials over the years which was definitely advantageous. The biggest problem was producing enough money to support a family of five. So, I applied for a job as a general manager for a fleet service company. I got the job and for about a year I had about three employees that would go out with me every night and we would do fleet maintenance on cement mixers all night and by day I worked constantly on the business. The biggest challenge of my life!
